Deja Voodoo (Canadian Band)
Deja Voodoo was a Canadian garage rock band, formed by Gerard van Herk (guitar and singing) and Tony Dewald (drums), who combined 1950s horror imagery with rockabilly and country musical influences. Van Herk's guitar only had the top four strings and he sang in a deep voice, whilst Dewald's drum kit had no cymbals, which resulted in a low-treble rock style they termed "sludgeabilly." The band toured in Canada, the United States, and even Europe. Early days Both born in the 1960s, van Herk and Dewald each grew up in Montreal. In 1981, the two joined together to form Deja Voodoo. Their music generally consisted of short songs influenced by rockabilly and punk artists. As Deja Voodoo was embarking on its first performances, Montreal was receiving an influx of immigrants from Western Canada, and independent record labels were starting to spring up. Deja Voodoo are a rock band from Auckland, New Zealand, where they formed in 2002. History Deja Voodoo began as the fictional house band in the New Zealand television show ''Back Of The Y Masterpiece Television'', which featured them in 15 seconds of mimed rock n' roll at the start of each episode.Smith, Nick (2006)Upfront: Chris Stapp & Matt Heath New Zealand Listener This led to a nationwide tour, which featured a finale where Heath smashed ten burning acoustic guitars over Chris Stapp's head. ''Déjà Voodoo'' is the sixth studio album by southern rock jam band Gov't Mule. The album was released on September 14, 2004, by ATO Records. It was the first Gov't Mule album to feature Andy Hess as a member, and the first studio album to feature Danny Louis as a member. It was also the first album that Gov't Mule did not play live before its release. The title is a reference to the band's belief that it rocks just like it used to before the death of former bassist Allen Woody. Heavy Stereo
Heavy Stereo were an English alternative rock band, who were active from 1993 to 1999. There were known for their 1970s glam rock styled sound, and their sole album, ''Déjà Voodoo''. They were also on the same record label and opened for Oasis, which Heavy Stereo's frontman Gem Archer later joined. Career Heavy Stereo was fronted by lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, songwriter and producer Gem Archer, later of Oasis. They were heavily influenced by 1970s glam rock, including Gary Glitter, The New York Dolls, and Sweet. They released their debut and only album, ''Deja Voodoo'', in 1996. Heavy Stereo also produced a cover of The Jam's song The Gift, for the tribute album Fire & Skill. Dread Zeppelin is an American reggae rock band. Formed in 1989 in Sierra Madre, California, the band combines hard rock and reggae styles with humor. They are best known for performing the songs of Led Zeppelin in a reggae style as sung by a Las Vegas Elvis impersonator. Over the years they have also performed songs originally by Elvis Presley, Bob Marley and The Yardbirds. The group toured extensively around the world during their tenure with I.R.S. Records. ''Ledbetter Heights'' is the debut album by American blues solo artist Kenny Wayne Shepherd, released on September 19, 1995, when Shepherd was 18 years old. The album's name refers to a neighborhood in Shepherd's hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. It also featured lead singer Corey Sterling on vocals. ''Ledbetter Heights'' was an immediate hit, selling over 500,000 copies by early 1996.
