Deggenhausertal is a municipality in the district of Bodensee in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. __TOC__ Geography Deggenhausertal is located in two hilly valleys between the mountains of Gehrenberg and Höchsten. It is bordered to the west by Heiligenberg and Salem, to the south by Bermatingen, Markdorf and Oberteuringen, to the east by the District of Ravensburg and its communes of Horgenzell and Wilhelmsdorf, and to the northwest by the commune of Illmensee in the District of Sigmaringen. The commune contains 6 municipalities and several villages: History Historically Deggenhausertal was located in the border region between the Free Cities of Überlingen and Ravensburg, the Prince-Bishopric of Constance, Salem Abbey and the County of Heiligenberg. Homberg is a municipality in the commune Deggenhausertal in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Deggenhausertal itself is a part of the district Bodenseekreis which is on the north shore of Lake Constanz. Geography Homberg forms the northeastern portion of the commune, spread across numerous valleys. Homberg includes the villages Azenweiler, Burg, Höge, Limpach, Magetsweiler, Möggenhausen, Oberhomberg, Oberweiler, Rubacker, Unterhomberg, Wahlweiler, Wattenberg and Wippertsweiler. History The first mention of Homberg was in 1191, in mention of the church in the village Oberhomberg. The Lords of Homberg are attested between 1171 and 1364, though it is uncertain if they are connected with the municipality or not. Deggenhausen
Deggenhausen is a town in the commune Deggenhausertal in Baden-Württemberg Germany. Deggenhausertal itself is a part of the district Bodenseekreis which is on the north shore of Lake Constanz. Geography Deggenhausen is located in valley, alongside the small river of the Deggenhauser Ach, about 8 km east southeast of Heiligenberg. The municipality of Deggenhausen also includes the villages Ellenfurt and Obersiggingen. History Located northeast of the village was an eponymous castle, the ancestral home of the House of Deggenhausen which has been attested to the period 1137–1314. After the Deggenhausen family became extinct, the region passed to the Lords of Markdorf, who later sold it to the Prince-Bishopric of Constance. Salem is a municipality in the Bodensee district of Baden-Württemberg in Southern Germany, located 9 km north of Lake Constance, with a population of 11,100. Geography The community is located about nine kilometers east of Überlingen and ten kilometers north east of Meersburg in Linzgau mainly in the valley of Linzer Aach. Bermatingen
Bermatingen is a commune in the district of Bodensee in Baden-Württemberg in Germany. __TOC__ Geography Bermatingen is located 4 km west of Markdorf in the valley of the Seefelder Aach. It is bordered to the north by Salem, the east by Deggenhausertal, the south by Markdorf, and the west by Meersburg. The commune comprises two municipalities: Bermatingen (with the villages of Autenweiler and Wiggenweiler), and Ahausen. The two municipalities were joined into the same commune on 1 January 1973. History Bermatingen Alemannian farmers settled in the region in the 5th-7th Centuries. The first mention of Bermatingen is in 779 as ''Permodingas'', in which Ato and his wife Herosta donated the village to St Gall's Abbey in modern Switzerland. Bodenseekreis ("Lake Constance district") is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the south-east of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Heiligenberg is a municipality and a village in the Bodensee district in Baden-Württemberg, about seven kilometres north of Salem, in Germany. Location and climate Heiligenberg (literally: the Holy Mountain or the Mountain of Saints) is located in the upper Linzgau region.
