The Defence and Home Affairs Select Committee (Malay: Jawatankuasa Pilihan Khas Pertahanan dan Hal Ehwal Dalam Negeri; ; Tamil: பாதுகாப்பு மற்றும் உள்நாட்டு விவகாரங்களுக்கான சிறப்புக் குழு மலேசியா) is one of many select committees of the Malaysian House of Representatives, which scrutinises the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs. It is among six new bipartisan parliamentary select committees announced by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof, on 4 December 2018 in an effort to improve the institutional system. Dewan Rakyat
The Dewan Rakyat (English: 'House of Representatives'; ) is the lower house of the bicameral Parliament, the federal legislature of Malaysia. The chamber and its powers are established by Article 44 of the Constitution of Malaysia. The Dewan Rakyat sits in the Houses of Parliament in Kuala Lumpur, along with the Dewan Negara, the upper house. The Dewan Rakyat is a directly elected body consisting of 222 members known as Members of Parliament (MPs). Members are elected by first-past-the-post voting with one member from each federal constituency. Members hold their seats until the Dewan Rakyat is dissolved, the term of which is constitutionally limited to five years after an election.
