Dirk De fauw (born 7 December 1957) is a Belgian politician of the CD&V party. He is the son of , a politician of the CVP who was municipal councilor of Sint-Andries, provincial councilor in West Flanders and deputy of the same province. Dirk De fauw studied law and is a lawyer. He is the current mayor of Bruges. Career He is a Municipal councilor of Bruges since 1983 and a Provincial councilor of West Flanders since 1986. In 1991 he became party leader for the CD&V in the West Flemish provincial council. After the provincial elections of 21 October 1994 he was appointed vice-chairman of the provincial council. Dimitri De Fauw
Dimitri De Fauw (13 July 1981 – 6 November 2009) was a Belgian professional road and track bicycle racer. He was born in Ghent. De Fauw competed on both the road and track but is best known for his crash during the 2006 Six Days of Ghent. On 26 November, De Fauw collided with Spanish cyclist Isaac Gálvez during the madison portion of the Six Days of Ghent cycling event in Belgium. Both riders fell, though Gálvez crashed into the track's upper railing and was knocked unconscious. While medics resuscitated him at the scene, the Spaniard died of his injuries en route to hospital. Despite continuing to race as a professional, De Fauw suffered from ongoing depression in the aftermath of Gálvez's death and was haunted by the accident. In an interview the following month, the 25-year-old De Fauw said, "I will carry this with me for the rest of my life. Only time can heal my wounds." Désiré Defauw (5 September 1885, Ghent, Belgium – 25 July 1960, Gary, Indiana, United States) was a Belgian conductor and violinist. During World War I he became a refugee, working in London where in 1917 he appeared at the Wigmore Hall performing John Ireland's Violin Sonata No. 2 with the composer at the piano.Phillips, Bruce. Bradley Russell DeFauw (born November 10, 1977) is an American former professional ice hockey winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Carolina Hurricanes. Playing career DeFauw was drafted in the second round, 28th overall, by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
