Deeside Parkway Railway Station
Deeside Parkway () is a proposed railway station situated between Neston and Hawarden Bridge on the Borderlands Line. The station is intended to serve the Deeside area of Flintshire, North Wales, particularly the Deeside Industrial Park. Deeside Parkway station forms part of the wider plan for the North Wales Metro, and is considered to be a key component of the plan. The proposed station was shortlisted for preliminary assessment by the Welsh Government in July 2017, and prioritised for development in April 2019. Funding to develop the proposal was announced in November 2020, as part of the third round of the New Stations Fund. The station has a projected cost of £22.56m to build, exclusive of VAT. Ordnance Survey National Grid
The Ordnance Survey National Grid reference system (OSGB) (also known as British National Grid (BNG)) is a system of geographic grid references used in Great Britain, distinct from latitude and longitude. Neston Railway Station
Neston railway station serves the town of Neston, Cheshire, England. It is the southernmost station on the English part of the Borderlands Line before it reaches Wales. The station is 8¾ miles (14 km) south of Bidston. History There was once a substantial station building on the Bidston bound platform. This fell into disrepair in the late 1990s though, and was finally demolished when the station was modernised for Disability Discrimination Act compliancy in 2003. Future Long standing plans to electrify the Borderlands Line have been put on hold due to the prohibitive cost of installing third rail electrification. This has led Merseytravel to look at other options for the line, including the possibility of overhead lines. Hawarden Bridge Railway Station
Hawarden Bridge railway station is a railway station near Shotton, Flintshire, Wales. It is situated on the Borderlands Line north of Wrexham Central, on the north side of Hawarden Bridge over the River Dee. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Transport for Wales. History The station was opened by the LNER on 22 September 1924 as ''Hawarden Bridge Halt'', adjacent to the John Summers steelworks. The station was renamed as ''Hawarden Bridge'' in 1954 when it was upgraded. The station was considerably busier in times past, being the nearest to the triangular junction with the former line to and Mickle Trafford as well as the steel plant. North Wales Metro
The North Wales Metro (; originally the North East Wales Metro; ) is a rail and bus transport improvement programme in north Wales. Styled as a "Metro", it is conceptually a multi-modal system with a combination of bus, heavy rail, and light rail services. It was initially focused on linking major settlements and employment areas of the north-east of Wales with the North West of England, with its hubs located in Wrexham, Chester and Deeside, although the programme has since expanded, with proposals extending to Anglesey in the north-west of Wales.
