Deepspace5 is an underground hip hop Supergroup (music), supergroup formed in 1997 and currently composed of Beat Rabbi, Manwell?, Freddie Bruno, Dan Smith (Listener), Listener, Mars ILL (a stand-alone duo consisting of Manchild (rapper), Manchild and DJ Dust), Playdough (rapper), Playdough, Sintax the Terrific, Sintax.the.Terrific, Sivion, and Sev Statik. Deepspace5 also previously included Illtripp and The Recon. Since its formation, the collective has sold over 100,000 copies of its recordings, and has performed with KRS-One, Atmosphere (music group), Atmosphere, and MF Doom, among others. The Future Ain't What It Used To Be
''Original Sin'' is a concept album performed by Pandora's Box and produced by Jim Steinman. It was released on November 6, 1989. Steinman wrote the majority of this album, although there are a couple of cover versions. It was the group's only album, and was a commercial flop. Although the album was not a commercial success (except in South Africa), many of the songs have gone platinum with other artists. Steinman is said to have been very proud of the songs on this album, even though ''Original Sin'' sold very poorly in comparison with his highest selling albums and songs. The album charted at No. 43 in Sweden. The album was re-released in 2006 along with a DVD featuring the videos for "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" and " Good Girls Go to Heaven (Bad Girls Go Everywhere)", a featurette featuring interviews and performances by Steinman. ''The Night We Called It a Day'' is the debut studio album by underground hip hop supergroup Deepspace5, released on January 8, 2002, through Uprok Records. It was recorded in Dallas, Texas. Recording ''The Night We Called It a Day'' was recorded in one week in Dallas, Texas, at the apartment of group member Playdough. It was produced by Beat Rabbi, DJ Dust, Freddie Bruno, and Playdough, with Playdough producing under a different moniker, Harry Krum. During the recording sessions, the group met future member Sivion. Lyrics and musical style The album features an underground, anti-commercial style. Jayson Young of RapReviews.com called the album "strictly ground-roots, MC/DJ, hard-core hip-hop". Young also found the Listener's vocal style similar to Son Doobie and noted that "Stick This In Your Ear" includes a flute sample. Braille (rapper)
Bryan Winchester (born September 27, 1981), better known by his stage name Braille, is an American rapper. Career The concept behind the name Braille relates to "Helping People Understand the things they can't see." He has worked with a host of premier hip hop recording acts including his group Lightheaded, with rapper-producer Ohmega Watts and rapper Othello. Braille was also a part of a group called Acts 29 consisting of himself, Ohmega Watts, and Soul Plasma. Acts 29 has only released one album and is not planning on releasing any more material. Braille was signed to Syntax Records in 1999 and continues to record for the label. The majority of his recordings are credited to his own label imprint "Hip-hop Is Music." Influenced by the positive vibe of the group A Tribe Called Quest, Braille started recording Christian hip hop music. Mars Ill is an emcee/ DJ hip-hop duo from Atlanta, Georgia. The duo consists of Gregory Owens ( Manchild) and Nathan Corrona ( DJ Dust). They are also part of the hip-hop collective and supergroup Deepspace5. Coming together in 1998, Mars Ill has released several albums and EPs through independent record labels and two albums on Gotee Records. Their success in the underground hip-hop movement in the early 2000s led to their performing at Scribble Jam in 2003 and 2004 and, ultimately, their signing to Gotee. Tooth & Nail Records is a record label founded by Brandon Ebel in California in November 1993. The label later moved to Seattle where it is today. Listener is an American spoken word rock band from Fayetteville, Arkansas. Originally a hip hop project by Dan Smith, who used the moniker "Listener", it soon evolved into a full-fledged rock band. The current lineup consists of Smith as vocalist, trumpeter, and bassist together with guitarist Jon Terrey and drummer Kris Rochelle. History Listener originally started as a solo underground hip hop project of vocalist Dan Smith beginning with the commercial release of the album '' Whispermoon'' on Mush Records in 2003.
