Tithes
A tithe (; from Old English: ''teogoþa'' "tenth") is a one-tenth part of something, paid as a contribution to a religious organization or compulsory tax to government. Today, tithes are normally voluntary and paid in cash or cheques or more recently via online giving, whereas historically tithes were required and paid in kind, such as agricultural produce. After the separation of church and state, church tax linked to the tax system are instead used in many countries to support their national church. Donations to the church beyond what is owed in the tithe, or by those attending a congregation who are not members or adherents, are known as offerings, and often are designated for specific purposes such as a building program, debt retirement, or mission work. Many Christian denominations hold Jesus taught that tithing must be done in conjunction with a deep concern for "justice, mercy and faithfulness" (cf. Matthew 23:23). Tithing was taught at early Christian church councils, ...

Main characters John Crichton John Robert Crichton, Jr. , played by Ben Browder, is an International Aeronautics and Space Administration (most commonly referred to on the show as IASA) astronaut who, in the opening few minutes of the pilot episode, is accidentally catapulted through a wormhole across the universe, thus; setting the scene for the show as a whole. Decimation (signal Processing)
In digital signal processing, downsampling, compression, and decimation are terms associated with the process of ''resampling'' in a multi-rate digital signal processing system. Both ''downsampling'' and ''decimation'' can be synonymous with ''compression'', or they can describe an entire process of bandwidth reduction (filtering) and sample-rate reduction. When the process is performed on a sequence of samples of a ''signal'' or a continuous function, it produces an approximation of the sequence that would have been obtained by sampling the signal at a lower rate (or density, as in the case of a photograph). ''Decimation'' is a term that historically means the '' removal of every tenth one''. But in signal processing, ''decimation by a factor of 10'' actually means ''keeping'' only every tenth sample. This factor multiplies the sampling interval or, equivalently, divides the sampling rate. For example, if compact disc audio at 44,100 samples/second is ''decimated'' by a factor of 5 ...

Decimator (Star Wars)
''Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds'' is a real-time strategy video game set in the Star Wars universe. It was developed by Ensemble Studios and LucasArts. It was released on November 11, 2001. An expansion pack, ''Clone Campaigns'', was released on May 14, 2002, adding two new factions and campaigns. Later that year, both ''Galactic Battlegrounds'' and ''Clone Campaigns'' were released in a box set, ''Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds Saga''. The games were built on the Genie (game engine), Genie engine, the same one used in ''Age of Empires (video game), Age of Empires'' and ''Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, Age of Empires II''. Gameplay The player starts the game with a Command Center, a scout, and three workers (in a normal random map game) for whichever of the six original factions they choose. The player searches and gathers resources such as Food, Carbon, Nova Crystals, and Ore and then uses the resources in order to create new buildings, combat units, and workers. F ...
