Decatur Mall
Decatur Mall (formerly Beltline Mall, River Oaks Center, and Colonial Mall Decatur) is a regional shopping mall located southwest of downtown Decatur, Alabama on State Route 67. The mall is owned and managed by Hull Property Group. It is the only mall in the Decatur Metropolitan Area. Anchor stores include Belk, and Electronic Express. The mall also houses a AMC Theatres and a Chuck E. Cheese's. History The Belk store was originally JCPenney until 1987, when JCPenney relocated to a new store and sold the old building to Parisian. Dillard's had two anchors in the mall: one that it acquired from Castner Knott in 1998, and a second which was originally Rogers. Both of these closed in 2011. Decatur, Alabama
Decatur (dɪˈkeɪtə(r)) is the largest city and county seat of Morgan County (with a portion also in Limestone County) in the U.S. state of Alabama. Nicknamed "The River City", it is located in northern Alabama on the banks of Wheeler Lake, along the Tennessee River. The population in 2020 was 57,938. Decatur is the core city of the two-county large Decatur metropolitan area, which had an estimated population of 156,494 in 2020. Castner Knott
Castner Knott was a Nashville, Tennessee-based regional department store chain which operated stores in Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The chain was in business for a century from 1898 to 1998, in its later years as a division of Mercantile Stores Company. Castner Knott's historic flagship location on Nashville's Church Street closed in 1996, while the remaining stores were among those sold to Little Rock, Arkansas-based Dillard's, when it acquired Mercantile in 1998. The five high-volume mall stores ( Bellevue Center, CoolSprings Galleria, Hickory Hollow Mall, The Mall at Green Hills and Rivergate Mall) in the greater Nashville area, where Dillard's already had locations, were sold to Saks Incorporated and rebranded as Proffitt's. WAAY-TV (channel 31) is a television station in Huntsville, Alabama, United States, affiliated with ABC and owned by Allen Media Broadcasting. The station's studios and transmitter are located on Monte Sano Boulevard on top of Monte Sano Mountain. History The station's first broadcast was on August 1, 1959 as WAFG-TV. It was the second television outlet in the Huntsville region, signing on five years after NBC affiliate WMSL-TV (now WAFF).
