Debra (song)
"Debra" is a song by the American musician Beck. It was released on his album ''Midnite Vultures''. Background Beck had originally attempted to record and release "Debra" with the Dust Brothers for ''Odelay'', but he thought that it was too tongue-in-cheek. It was debuted mainstream in 1996, and, as Beck noted, "it became the centerpiece of the whole set. It was the song that people would react to more than the songs that they'd heard on the radio. So we kept playing it and playing it". The song finally made it on to ''Midnite Vultures'' in 1999. Composition The song's lyrics are about meeting a girl named Jenny who works at the retail store JCPenney and wanting to "get with" her and her sister, Debra. The lyrics include a reference to the Los Angeles-based restaurant chain Zankou Chicken, as well as a mention of car manufacturer Hyundai and a reference to another song on Midnite Vultures, "Sexx Laws." ''Young Americans'' is the ninth studio album by English musician David Bowie, released on 7March 1975 through RCA Records. I Dont Know How But They Found Me (stylized in all caps), often shortened to IDKHow (stylized as iDKHOW), is an American musical duo based in Salt Lake City, Utah and formed in 2016. The band consists of lead vocalist and bassist Dallon Weekes and drummer Ryan Seaman. Before signing with Fearless Records, the duo was described as "the hottest unsigned band in the world" on the cover of ''Rock Sound'' in March 2018. Kompressor was a parody industrial hip hop act (2000-2005) performed by "Andreas K.", a stagename of webcomic artist Drew Fairweather from Washington Court House, Ohio, United States. Kompressor was originally anonymous but later revealed himself to be Drew, the author of the '' Toothpaste For Dinner'' daily webcomic and blog. WhoSampled is a website and app database of information about sampled music or sample-based music, cover songs and remixes. History Nadav Poraz founded the site in London, England in 2008, as a way to track musical samples and cover songs. Mobile apps were released in 2012 and 2014 for iPhone and Android, respectively. The website's database is user-generated and reviewed by moderators before the content goes live. As of 2022, the site's most sampled track is the Amen break from the Winstons.
