Deborah F. Swayne
Deborah F. Swayne (born 6 January 1952) is an American statistician who worked for AT&T Labs and chaired the Section on Statistical Graphics of the American Statistical Association. She is known for her work as coauthor of GGobi, a software tool for interactive data visualization, and is president of the GGobi Foundation. She retired in 2016. With Dianne Cook, she is the author of ''Interactive and Dynamic Graphics for Data Analysis: With R and GGobi'' (Springer, 2007). GGobi is a free statistical software tool for interactive data visualization. GGobi allows extensive exploration of the data with Interactive dynamic graphics. Data and information visualization (data viz or info viz) is an interdisciplinary field that deals with the graphic representation of data and information. It is a particularly efficient way of communicating when the data or information is numerous as for example a time series. It is also the study of visual representations of abstract data to reinforce human cognition. The abstract data include both numerical and non-numerical data, such as text and geographic information. It is related to infographics and scientific visualization.
