Deborah Allan
Deborah "Debbie" Allan (born 21 July 1975) is a former British judoka. She won three European Championship medals, including a gold at the 1999 European Judo Championships. Allan was scheduled to compete at the 2000 Summer Olympics, but was disqualified at the weigh-in for being over the weight limit. Career Allan is from Camberley, Surrey, England, and trained at the Camberley Judo Club. In 1993, she became champion of Great Britain, winning the featherweight division at the British Judo Championships. The following year in 1994, she won a bronze medal at the 1994 European Judo Championships and retained her British title. Also in 1994, she was involved in a row with coach Mark Earle, which led to him being temporarily suspended by British Judo. In 1995, she won her third consecutive British featherweight title. The European Judo Championships is the Judo European Championship organized by the European Judo Union. The 2015 and 2019 editions were held during the respective European Games. This is also expected for future editions of the European Games. Diane Bell (born 11 October 1963) is a British former judoka. She won the 56–61 kg event at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, but at the time women's judo was then still a demonstration sport, so unlike the men Bell did not enter the list of Olympic medalists in judo. She also won two World Judo Championships, a Commonwealth Games gold and three European Judo Championships. British Judo Championships
The British Judo Championships are held annually and feature various age and weight categories to determine the British champion. The Championships are currently held at the English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. Until 2013, the Championships were held under the title of either the British Closed Championships or the British Senior Trials. In 2013, the British Closed Championships/Senior Trials were merged with the all-age British Championships. The 2020 Championship was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
