Suicide is the act of intentionally causing one's own death. Mental disorders (including depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, anxiety disorders), physical disorders (such as chronic fatigue syndrome), and substance abuse (including alcoholism and the use of and withdrawal from benzodiazepines) are risk factors. Isaac "Ike" Fulwood Jr. (April 28, 1940 – September 1, 2017) was an American police officer who served as the Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia from July 1989 until September 1992. Matthew Labine
Matthew Labine (May 5, 1959 – September 1, 2017) was an American soap opera writer, the son of Claire Labine and the brother of Eleanor Labine Mancusi. Early life Labine received a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Yale University in 1981 and was on the rowing team, where he won several rowing championships. After college, played on two US National teams and was a finalist in the US Olympic trials in 1980 and 1984. ''Love of Life'' is an American soap opera televised on CBS from September 24, 1951, to February 1, 1980. It was created by Roy Winsor, whose previous creation ''Search for Tomorrow'' premiered three weeks before ''Love of Life''; he created ''The Secret Storm'' two and a half years later. Production ''Love of Life'' originally came from Liederkranz Hall on East 58th Street in Manhattan. Mike and Buff (Mike Wallace), Ernie Kovacs, and ''Douglas Edwards and the News'', as well as ''Search for Tomorrow'' and ''The Guiding Light'' also came from that location. The program originated at other studios in Manhattan, but primarily at the CBS Broadcast Center on West 57th Street and CBS' Studio 52 behind the Ed Sullivan Theater. Elizabeth Kemp (November 5, 1951 – September 1, 2017) was an American actress and acting coach. She began her career on the television series ''Love of Life'' in 1973, after studying at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Actors Studio under Lee Strasberg. She went on to become an acting coach and faculty member of the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University. Early life Kemp was born in Key West, Florida, the daughter of Nancy Jean (Haycock) and Joseph Clifton Kemp, a business executive and U.S. Navy officer and test pilot stationed at the Pentagon. Kemp showed talent as a child painter from age 13–16, and graduated from high school with a special award for creative achievement. Alexander George Karczmar (May 9, 1917 – August 17, 2017), was a Polish-American neuroscientist and academic. He was tenured for 30 years (1956–1986) as professor and chairman of the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics at Loyola University of Chicago Medical Center, and director of its Institute for Mind, Drugs and Behavior. He is widely recognized for his experimental research, almost all of which is devoted to the cholinergic system, both central and peripheral, and its autonomic and mental functions, including its control of various human and animal behaviors. Hedley H. G. Jones (12 November 1917 – 1 September 2017) was a Jamaican musician, audio engineer, inventor, trade unionist and writer.
