''Frankie and Johnny'' is a 1966 American Western musical film starring Elvis Presley as a riverboat gambler. The role of "Frankie" was played by Donna Douglas from ''The Beverly Hillbillies'' TV series. The film reached #40 on the ''Variety'' weekly national box office list for 1966. The budget of the film was estimated at $4.5 million. The director was Frederick De Cordova, who in 1970 went on to become the director and producer of ''The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson''. Géry-Jacques-Charles Leuliet (12 January 1910 – 1 January 2015) was a French prelate of the Roman Catholic Church and at the time of his death, was the oldest bishop of the Catholic Church, at 104 years of age. Leuliet was born in France and was ordained to the priesthood on 8 July 1933 in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Arras. Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins are a professional American football team based in the Miami metropolitan area. Bill Keating (American Football)
William Lawrence Keating (November 22, 1944 – January 1, 2015) was an American professional football player in the American Football League (AFL). He played college football for the University of Michigan and professionally for the Denver Broncos and Miami Dolphins during the 1960s. After his playing career, he became a trial lawyer. University of Michigan Keating played college football as a guard for the University of Michigan from 1963 to 1965. He helped lead the 1964 Michigan Wolverines football team to the Big Ten Championship and a victory in the 1965 Rose Bowl. Professional football Keating played two seasons of professional football as a defensive tackle and guard for the Denver Broncos (1966–1967) and Miami Dolphins (1967), appearing in 22 AFL or NFL games. Omar Karami
Omar Abdul Hamid Karami (last name also spelled Karamé and Karameh) ( ar, عمر عبد الحميد كرامي; 7 September 1934 – 1 January 2015) was the 29th prime minister of Lebanon, who served two separate terms. He was Prime Minister for the first time from 24 December 1990, when Selim al-Hoss gave up power, until May 1992, when he resigned due to economic instability. He was again Prime Minister from October 2004 to April 2005. Early life Karami was born Omar Abdul Hamid Karami in the northern Lebanese town of An Nouri, near Tripoli in 1934 to a Sunni Muslim family. Jack Howell (physician)
John Bernard Lloyd Howell (1 August 1926 – 1 January 2015) was a British physician. Howell was born in Swansea on 1 August 1926, the son of Hilda Mary Howell née Hill, and David John Howell, an architect. He qualified at the Middlesex Hospital in 1950 and in 1957–1958 was granted a Medical Research Council Fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. From 1960 to 1969 he worked as senior lecturer and consultant physician at Manchester Royal Infirmary. In 1969 he was appointed foundation professor of medicine at the University of Southampton, becoming emeritus on his retirement in 1991. He was also dean of the Faculty of Medicine there from 1978 to 1983. He served as president of the British Thoracic Society from 1988 to 1989, as president of the British Medical Association from 1989 to 1990, and as chairman of the Southampton Health Authority from 1983 to 1998. Progressive Supranuclear Palsy
Progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is a late-onset degenerative disease involving the gradual deterioration and death of specific volumes of the brain. The condition leads to symptoms including loss of balance, slowing of movement, difficulty moving the eyes, and cognitive impairment. PSP may be mistaken for other neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's, frontotemporal dementia and Alzheimer's. The cause of the condition is uncertain, but involves accumulation of tau protein within the brain. Medications such as levodopa and amantadine may be useful in some cases. PSP affects about six people per 100,000. The first symptoms typically occur at 60–70 years of age. Males are slightly more likely to be affected than females. No association has been found between PSP and any particular race, location, or occupation. Jeff Golub
Jeff Golub (April 15, 1955 – January 1, 2015) was an American jazz guitarist who had a solo career and who led the band Avenue Blue. He worked as a sideman for a number of rock and pop musicians. He was arguably best known for his work with Rod Stewart 1988-95. Career Golub was born in Copley Township, Ohio, near Akron. He grew up listening to pop music, rock, blues, funk, and R&B. In the 1970s, he attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston. 1980, he moved to New York city, and worked for rock guitarist Billy Squier. During the 1980s and '90s, he worked as a sideman for Ashford & Simpson, Tina Turner, John Waite, Dar Williams, Vanessa Williams, and Peter Wolf. 1988–95, he recorded and toured with Rod Stewart. He was a member of Dave Koz and the Kozmos, the house band of '' The Emeril Lagasse Show''.
