Death And Progress
''Death and Progress'' is the fourth studio album by the British heavy metal band Diamond Head, released in 1993 through Castle Music Ltd. This was Diamond Head's first album since ''Canterbury'', released 10 years earlier. It was co-produced, engineered and mixed by Andrew Scarth, who had previously worked for bands such as Bad Company and Foreigner. The album had a much cleaner and more polished sound than their previous three albums and featured two special guests, Tony Iommi, of Black Sabbath, and Dave Mustaine, of Megadeth, the latter also enlisting the help of his own producer Max Norman. National Bowl incident The reunion of Diamond Head did not last. One major contributor to the second fall of the band was during the Death and Progress tour, when Diamond Head opened for Metallica and Megadeth at the National Bowl in Milton Keynes on 5 June 1993; The Almighty was also on the bill. Diamond Head (English Band)
Diamond Head are an English heavy metal band formed in 1976 in Stourbridge, West Midlands. The band was part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement and is acknowledged by thrash metal bands such as Metallica and Megadeth as an important early influence. History Early history Brian Tatler formed the band with drummer Duncan Scott while both still at school. In June 1976 they found singer Sean Harris, who was in the same year, and went through three bass players before settling on Collin Kimberley in Feb 1978. The band recorded two self-financed demo tapes in 1979. They were recorded within six hours on a four-track, one of which was sent to Geoff Barton at Sounds. Metallica
Metallica is an American heavy metal band. The band was formed in 1981 in Los Angeles by vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, and has been based in San Francisco for most of its career. Simon Efemey
Simon Efemey is an English record producer, most noted for his work with metal and hard rock groups, including Napalm Death, Paradise Lost, Obituary, Amorphis, Deceased and The Wildhearts. He has also provided live sound mixing with bands including The Wonder Stuff, Jesus Jones, Diamond Head, Orson, Obituary and Napalm Death. Efemy was instrumental in setting up the recording studio and rehearsal rooms in Stourbridge known as Wreckless and later on The Icicle Works, providing a local source of affordable practice space and recording facilities for local amateur bands. During this time Efemey also participated in musical performances, fronting acts such as Stinkin’ Fish. Efemey was the cover star of the withdrawn sleeve design for The Wildhearts' 1993 single "Greetings from Shitsville", on which he was depicted defecating into a pita bread held by the four band members. Peter Bryan Vuckovic (born February, 1971 in Devon, England) is an English singer-songwriter and bass player. Biography Of half Serbs, Serbian descent, Vuckovic grew up in Tiverton, Devon listening to hard rock and metal, singing and playing bass in bands with his older brother throughout his teens. His first success came in 1993 after leaving his own band, Blackout, and moving to Birmingham to join the reformed Diamond Head (English band), Diamond Head as their bassist. He recorded the ''Death and Progress'' and ''Evil Live'' albums with them but they split again soon after. Rising Up
''Rising Up'' is an EP by British heavy metal band Diamond Head released in 1992. The recording stems following Brian Tatler and Sean Harris partnering back again, now with Karl Wilcox on drums and Eddie Chaos on Bass, following a jam session with Metallica. Playing only new material, the band completed a small tour of UK clubs under the pseudonym ''Dead Reckoning''. Following that the band entered the studio to record tracks for the 2-track 12" EP, which was available only at gigs and specialist record shops. The track 'Wild On The Streets' had its origins back in 1978, but it had never been completed or recorded. "Creeping Death" is a song by American heavy metal band Metallica. It was released on November 23, 1984, as the lead and only commercial single from their album '' Ride the Lightning'' (" Fade to Black" and "For Whom the Bell Tolls", from the same album, were issued as promotional singles). Written from the perspective of the Angel of Death, "Creeping Death" describes the tenth plague of Egypt. Development Kirk Hammett wrote the guitar riff for the bridge section when he was 16 years old. The middle section, with its ominous chants of "Die!" set to a Phrygian mode chord progression, was originally written by Hammett while he was in Exodus. The song was called "Die by His Hand" and had been part of the Exodus setlist for live shows, but was never used on any Exodus albums. ''Lightning to the Nations'' is the debut album by British heavy metal band Diamond Head. The album was recorded in 1979 (after the 1977 and 1979 demos) and released in 1980 through Happy Face Records, a label owned by the producer Muff Murfin of The Old Smithy studio of Worcester, due to lack of interest from major labels and the band feeling that they needed to get the ball rolling as other bands from the same era, such as Iron Maiden and Def Leppard, were already becoming big names. It was originally released in a plain white sleeve with no title or track listing, and was subsequently named after the first track on the album. Metal Blade Records re-released it on CD in 1992. In 2001, it was re-issued in its original "White Album" form by Sanctuary Records, featuring seven bonus tracks that were featured on singles and EPs from this era. NWOBHM
The new wave of British heavy metal (commonly abbreviated as NWOBHM) was a nationwide musical movement that started in England in the mid-1970s and achieved international attention by the early 1980s. Journalist Geoff Barton coined the term in a May 1979 issue of the British music newspaper ''Sounds'' to describe the emergence of new heavy metal bands in the mid to late 1970s, during the period of punk rock's decline and the dominance of new wave music. Although encompassing diverse mainstream and underground styles, the music of the NWOBHM is best remembered for drawing on the heavy metal of the 1970s and infusing it with the intensity of punk rock to produce fast and aggressive songs.
