Death Panel (podcast)
''Death Panel'' is a leftist podcast focusing on the political economy of health. It was founded in November 2018 by Artie Vierkant, Beatrice Adler-Bolton, Vince Patti, and Phil Rocco. As of 2021, all of the podcast's founders, except for Patti, remain its co-hosts. Adler-Bolton and Vierkant are both artists, and much of the original inspiration for the podcast came from Adler-Bolton's own experiences interacting with the health care system of the United States as someone with two rare diseases: chronic relapsing inflammatory optic neuropathy and granulomatosis with polyangiitis. In May 2020, Kerry Doran wrote in ARTnews that "...''The Death Panel'' has become a cult hit in the art world. Artie Vierkant
Artie Vierkant (born 1986) is an American digital artist based in Brooklyn, New York, known for his "Image Objects" series. The series is based on the 2010 essay "The Image Object Post-Internet", which he wrote while in graduate school. The series began in 2011 and, as of 2019, is still ongoing. Each work in the series is first created by Vierkant as a digital file on a computer, which he then UV prints out and fits onto a three-dimensional sculpture. As Emily Dubovoy noted in a 2012 ''Vice'' article about the series, "...there’s more to it than just the physical objects that one would view in a gallery. The series has another portion to it that lives in, you guessed it, the internet." In 2013, Vierkant began a series called "Exploits", in which he attempts to stretch the limits of what works of art violate intellectual property laws. Renaming, new brand and logo Verso Books was originally known as New Left Books. Jayson Scott Musson is an artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. He was born in Bronx, NY. Early life In an interview in Nat. Simon Denny (born 1982, in Auckland) is a contemporary artist based in Berlin. He represented New Zealand at the 2015 Venice Biennale. Since 2018 he is a professor for time based media at the HFBK Hamburg. Joshua Citarella is an artist and Twitch streamer from New York City who studies online communities. Early life and education Citarella attended the School of Visual Arts in New York, where he learned both traditional darkroom photography and digital techniques while the school transitioned its focus from the former to the latter. She is best known for her open letter written with Ciarán Finlayson and Tobi Haslett, ''The Tear Gas Biennial'', criticizing co-chair of the board of the Whitney Museum, Warren Kanders, and his toxic philanthropy which comes from selling tear gas and other weapons via Safariland.
