Death Of Liliana Barbarita Cepeda
The death of Liliana "Barbarita" Cepeda was a child's death that caused commotion in Puerto Rico during 1997. Investigations into the case caused confusion among the general public, because at first it had been claimed by Puerto Rican police that Cepeda had been raped and murdered, then it was alleged that she died accidentally. Liliana Barbara "Barbarita" Cepeda Casado (1990–1997) was a young Puerto Rican girl of African descent. On April 30, 2013, she was--along with Lorenzo Gonzalez Cacho and several other children who have disappeared or died violent deaths in Puerto Rico--remembered at Puerto Rico's Capitol, during a ceremony to promote reduction of mistreatment of minors in Puerto Rico. 1979 Pan American Games
The 1979 Pan American Games (Spanish: ''Juegos Panamericanos de 1979''), officially the VIII Pan American Games were a multi-sport event governed by the Panam Sports Organization, and were held in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from July 1 to July 15, 1979. The 1980 documentary film ''A Step Away'' showcased a number of athletes competing in the Games. Pedro Toledo
Pedro Toledo Dávila (1943December 23, 2012) was a former superintendent of the Puerto Rico Police. He served for two non-consecutive terms under two different administrations. Toledo was a former attorney and FBI agent. Early years and studies Pedro Toledo Dávila was born in 1943 to Pedro Toledo and Gladys Dávila at Hospital Dr. Pila in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He lived with his mother in Juana Díaz, until his father returned from World War II. After that, they moved to Ponce, where Toledo attended elementary and secondary school, graduating in 1961. Toledo enrolled at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez where he obtained a degree in mechanical engineering in 1966. Toledo then went to work for NASA at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, as an air conditioning systems engineer for the Saturn V and Apollo missions.
