Death Of Hamza Ali Al-Khateeb
Hamza Ali Al-Khateeb ( ar, حمزة علي الخطيب; October 24, 1997 – May 25, 2011) was a 13-year-old Syrian boy who died while in the custody of the Syrian government in Daraa. On April 29, 2011, he was detained during a protest. On May 25, 2011, his body was delivered to his family, having been badly bruised, along with burn marks, three gunshot wounds, and severed genitals. Hamza's family distributed photos and video of his body to journalists and activists. Shocked by what was depicted, thousands of people showed their support for Hamza online and in street protests. Background Hamza lived with his parents in the village of al-Jeezah in Daraa Governorate. Al-Jiza
Al-Jiza ( ar, الجيزة) is a town in southern Syria, administratively part of the Daraa Governorate, located east of Daraa. Nearby localities include al-Mataaiya to the south, Ghasm to the southeast, al-Sahwah to the northeast, al-Musayfirah to the north, Kahil to the northwest and al-Taybeh to the west. On 5 July 2012, WikiLeaks began publishing what it called the Syria Files, a collection of more than two million emails from Syrian political figures and ministries and from companies including Finmeccanica and Brown Lloyd James dating from August 2006 to March 2012. Omran Daqneesh ( ar, عُمْرَان دَقْنِيش, ʿUmrān Daqnīš, born 2011) is a Syrian boy who, at age five, gained media attention after footage of him injured appeared on the Internet following a reported air strike. History Daqneesh was injured on August 17, 2016, in an alleged Russian Air Force strike on the rebel-held al-Qaterji neighbourhood of Aleppo, Syria. Video footage from the Aleppo Media Centre showed an unarmed man, who appeared to be a rescue worker, carrying Omran from a damaged building to an ambulance. He was taken to a hospital known as M10, which was supported by the Syrian American Medical Society. A surgeon who treated Omran said there was "blood on his face from a wound on his forehead". Ali Abdulhadi Saleh Jafar Mushaima ( ar, علي عبدالهادي صالح جعفر مشيمع) (26 August 1989 during the Bahraini uprising (2011–present). According to Nabeel Rajab, head of Bahrain Centre for Human Rights, Mushaima was participating in a protest in Al Daih, in Manama's outskirt, when he was shot.
