Death Of Angira Pasi
On 23 May 2020, the dead body of 13-year-old girl Angira Pasi was found hanging from a tree in Devdaha, Nepal. The day before that, she was reportedly raped by 25-year-old Birendra Bhar, after which the local residents and ward member Amar Bahadur Chaudhary held a discussion and decided that Pasi was to be married to Bhar. After her death, the police initially refused to register the case; police only registered it after public outrage. Devdaha
Devdaha (Deva Daha, देवदह) is a municipality in Rupandehi District of Nepal, the ancient capital of Koliya Kingdom, located 7 km east of Lumbini and east of Butwal and shares a border with Nawalparasi district on the east side. It is identified as the maternal home of Queen Mayadevi, Prajapati Gautami and Princess Yasodhara. There are many places to visit in Devdaha. It is believed that Prince Siddhartha had spent some years of his childhood with his step-mother/aunt Prajapati Gautami in Devdaha. Soti Incident
On 27 May 2020, the bodies of two Dalit men were found in the Bheri River, a major tributary of the Karnali River. The two men were identified as 21-year-old Nawaraj BK and Tikaram Sunar. According to the Nepal police, when BK and 18 others went to Soti village in Chaurjahari, the villagers allegedly attacked the group and chased them to the river and killed them . Later two additional bodies were found, those of Ganesh Budha and Lokendra Sunar. Incident Nawaraj BK, from the Jajarkot District, went to the Soti village in Rukum District to marry a 17-year-old girl, with her consent. BK went to the village with 18 others on Saturday, 23 May 2020.
