Ian Deary
Ian John Deary OBE, FBA, FRSE, FMedSci (born 1954) is a Scottish psychiatrist known for work in the fields of intelligence, cognitive ageing, cognitive epidemiology, and personality. Deary is Professor of Differential Psychology at The University of Edinburgh. He is former Director of the Centre for Cognitive Ageing and Cognitive Epidemiology and co-Director of the Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Research Centre. Research Ian Deary has contributed to numerous topics in intelligence research. For instance, he has conducted several studies into the relationship between intelligence and elementary cognitive tasks such as reaction time and inspection time, and has investigated the overlap between intelligence and educational achievement. In 1983 he obtained a PhD at the University of Edinburgh with the thesis "Social work and the elderly: a problem of definition" written for the Stuart Macgregor Memorial Prize. John Deary
John Steele Deary (born 18 October 1962) is an English former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder. Deary began his career with Alan Ball's young Blackpool team in 1980. Unlike the rest, however, he went on to appear in over 300 games for the club. He started as an apprentice, signing for the Seasiders in March 1980. He made his debut on 5 September 1980, in a 2–1 victory at Fulham. The management seemed uncertain whether to play Deary in the heart of defence or deep in midfield, but he eventually established himself in the latter position. Deary scored his first league goal on 29 September 1982, in a 2–1 victory at Chester City. The following season, 1983–84, he scored a hat-trick in a 3–1 victory over Hereford United at Bloomfield Road on 28 April 1984. Terry Deary
William Terence Deary (born 3 January 1946) is a British children's author of over 200 books, selling over 25 million copies in over 40 languages, best known as the writer of the ''Horrible Histories'' series. Since 1994 he has been one of Britain's best-selling authors. In 2012, he was the tenth most-borrowed author in British libraries, and was voted Outstanding Children's Non-Fiction Author of the 20th Century by ''Books for Keeps'' magazine. Life and career Deary was born in Sunderland. His father Bill owned a butcher's shop in Hendon, a poverty stricken area of the city and his mother Freda was the manager of a clothing shop. Peter Deary
Peter Deary is an English musician and singer-songwriter. He was lead singer for 1980s band Cook da Books, went on to front Small, and then Smaller, who had two hit singles in the mid-1990s, and is now in The Sums. He has enjoyed a long friendship with Noel Gallagher, who guested on several tracks by Smaller.
