Dean Hassard
Dean Hassard is a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Pelly-Nisutlin in the Yukon Legislative Assembly as a member of the Yukon Party from 2002 to 2006. Hassard ran for the Yukon Party in the newly created riding of Pelly-Nisutlin in the snap election of 2002. Hassard ran against Liberal Jim McLachlan, the former Mayor of Faro and the incumbent MLA for Faro. McLachlan's riding had been dissolved to form part of Pelly-Nisutlin. Hassard beat McLachlan comfortably and joined the government of Yukon Premier Dennis Fentie, who defeated the incumbent Liberals. During his term in office, Hassard served as a backbench MLA. Whitehorse () is the capital of Yukon, and the largest city in Northern Canada. It was incorporated in 1950 and is located at kilometre 1426 (Historic Mile 918) on the Alaska Highway in southern Yukon. Faro (electoral District)
Faro was an electoral district that returned a member (known as an MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of the Yukon Territory in Canada between 1978 and 2002. It was created out of the riding of Pelly River and encompassed the community of Faro. It was situated on the traditional territory of the Ross River Dena Council of the Kaska Dena. The riding was dissolved in 2002 and amalgamated into the new riding of Pelly-Nisutlin, which includes the communities of Faro, Teslin, Ross River, and Little Salmon. Teslin, Yukon
The community of Teslin (Tlingit: ''Desleen'') includes the Village of Teslin in Yukon, Canada. Teslin is situated at historical Mile 804 on the Alaska Highway along Teslin Lake. Don Inverarity is a Canadian politician, who represented the electoral district of Porter Creek South in the Yukon Legislative Assembly from 2006 to 2011. He is a member of the Yukon Liberal Party. Dennis Fentie
Dennis G. Fentie (November 8, 1950 – August 30, 2019) was a Canadian politician. He was the seventh premier of Yukon and leader of the Yukon Party, serving from 2002 to 2011, as well as the MLA for Watson Lake. Before entering politics, Fentie was involved in logging, tourism, mining, trucking, and fuel distribution in and around Watson Lake. Fentie had served as director of both the Association of Yukon Forests and the Watson Lake Chamber of Commerce. Fentie was elected twice (in 1996 and 2000) as a NDP MLA after which he joined the Yukon party, later getting elected as its leader. The post is the territory's head of government, although its powers are considerably more limited than that of a provincial premier. Faro, Yukon
Faro is a town in the central Yukon, Canada, the home of the now abandoned Faro Mine. It was the largest open-pit lead– zinc mine in the world as well as a significant producer of silver and other natural resources. The mine was built by the Ralph M. Parsons Construction Company of the United States with General Enterprises Ltd. of Whitehorse being the main subcontractor. As of 2021, the population is 440, down from its peak population of 1,652 in 1981. Faro was named after the card game of the same name. As these industries have declined over the past decade, Faro is attempting to attract ecotourism to the region to view such animals as Dall and Stone sheep.
