Dean Dempsey
Dean Dempsey (born 1986) is an American visual artist, actor and filmmaker based in New York, New York. His art practice spans a range of media including photography, painting, drawing and video. He is also the writer and director of his debut feature film ''Candy Apple'' (2015), for which he won the NY Perspectives Award at the Winter Film Awards the following year. Dempsey later directed and co-wrote his second feature-length movie ''Deadman's Barstool'' (2018), and played lead actor in ''Flasher'' (in post-production) . In 2018, he was featured in ''New York'' Magazine's "The Cut - They Seem Cool" column entitled, "The Painter Who Loves To Hate The Art World." Life and career Dempsey was born in Tucson, Arizona. He received his BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2009 with study at the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London in 2008. San Francisco Bay Guardian
The ''San Francisco Bay Guardian'' was a free alternative newspaper published weekly in San Francisco, California. It was founded in 1966 by Bruce B. Brugmann and his wife, Jean Dibble. The paper was shut down on October 14, 2014. It was relaunched in February 2016 as an online publication. The ''Bay Guardian'' was known for reporting, celebrating, and promoting left-wing and progressive issues within San Francisco and (albeit rarely) around the San Francisco Bay Area as a whole. This usually included muckraking, legislation to control and limit gentrification, and endorsement of political candidates and other laws and policies that fall within its political views. It also printed movie and music reviews, an annual nude beaches issue, and an annual sex issue. Ptuj (; german: Pettau, ; la, Poetovium/Poetovio) is a town in northeastern Slovenia that is the seat of the City Municipality of Ptuj, Municipality of Ptuj. En Foco is a non-profit organization that nurtures contemporary fine art and documentary photographers of diverse cultures, primarily U.S. residents of Latino, African and Asian heritage, and native peoples of the Americas and the Pacific. Aljira, a Center for Contemporary Art was an artist-centered space in Newark, New Jersey, United States founded in 1983, designated a Major Arts Organization by New Jersey's State Council on the Arts. Aljira displayed the work of both established and emerging or under-represented artists. The center also sold books, fine art and prints through an online store, and held an auction of fine art each spring. Its name, an Australian Aboriginal word for dreamtime, was intended to suggest timelessness and open possibilities.
