Dean Demopoulos
Dean Demopoulos (born March 29, 1954) is an American professional basketball coach. He currently serves as head coach for the Saskatchewan Rattlers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). Early life Demopoulos was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and graduated from West Chester State in 1977 with a degree in comprehensive social sciences. He began his coaching career at Kennett High School in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. College coaching career In 1983, Demopoulos became an assistant to John Chaney at Temple University, a post he held until 2000. During that span, the Owls became a national basketball powerhouse, amassing a 393–151 (72.2%) record and making it to the NCAA Tournament 16 times and to the Elite Eight on four occasions. For the 2000–01 college season, Demopoulos served as head coach of the Kansas City Roos men's basketball team. Canadian Elite Basketball League
The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) is a men's professional minor league basketball organization. The CEBL was founded in 2017 and began play in 2019 with six teams competing all owned and operated by ownership group Canadian Basketball Ventures. The league currently consists of ten teams from six different provinces, with four being from Ontario, two from Alberta and one each from the provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Quebec, making the CEBL the largest professional sports league based entirely in Canada. 2004–05 Seattle SuperSonics Season
The 2004–05 NBA season was the SuperSonics' 38th season in the National Basketball Association. After losing their season opener to the Los Angeles Clippers 114–84 on November 3, the Sonics went on a nine-game winning streak as they won 17 of their first 20 games. Despite losing eight of their final ten games, the Sonics finished first place in the Northwest Division with a solid 52–30 record, marking their first 50-plus win season since 1998, and first playoff appearance since 2002. Ray Allen led the team averaging 23.9 points per game as he, and Rashard Lewis were both voted to play in the 2005 NBA All-Star Game in Denver. The NBA G League, or simply the G League, is the National Basketball Association's (NBA) official List of developmental and minor sports leagues, minor league basketball organization. The league was known as the National Basketball Development League (NBDL) from 2001 to 2005, and the NBA Development League (NBA D-League) from 2005 until 2017. The league started with eight teams until NBA commissioner David Stern announced a plan to expand the NBA D-League to 15 teams and develop it into a true minor league farm team, farm system, with each NBA D-League team affiliated with one or more NBA teams in March 2005. New Zealand Breakers
The New Zealand Breakers (also known as the Sky Sport Breakers for sponsorship reasons) are a New Zealand professional basketball team based in Auckland. The Breakers compete in the National Basketball League (NBL) and play their home games at multiple venues, mainly Spark Arena. The team was founded in 2003 by three Waikato businessmen, Dallas Fisher, Michael Redman and Keith Ward, and remains the only team in the league to compete from New Zealand. The team was bought by Liz and Paul Blackwell in 2005.
