Deadtime Stories (film)
''Deadtime Stories'' (also known internationally as ''Freaky Fairy-Tales'' and ''The Griebels from Deadtime Stories'') is a 1986 American horror comedy anthology film co-written and directed by Jeffery Delman in his directorial debut. In the film, a babysitting uncle tells his nephew three stories. The first story involves a slave used by two witches, who are attempting to resurrect their sister. The second story is based on "Little Red Riding Hood", where a teenage girl mistakenly picks up a werewolf's medicine for her grandmother. The third story, based on "Goldilocks", tells about three escaped mental patients who share their hideaway with a murderess. Production was filmed in New York City in 1984, originally titled as ''Freaky Fairy Tales''. After screening at the 1986 Cannes Film Festival, it was released on November 26, 1986, where it grossed $2.7 million at the box office. Michael Patrick Dougherty (born October 28, 1974) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, and animator, best known for the cult horror film '' Trick 'r Treat'' (2007), and the monster film '' Godzilla: King of the Monsters'' (2019). Early life Dougherty was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. He attended the Tisch School of Arts at New York University in the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, which is where he produced his 1996 short film ''Season's Greetings''. He is of Vietnamese descent on his mother's side. Career Dougherty made his directorial and writing debut with the animated short film ''Season's Greetings'', which was released in 1996. Dougherty went on to co-write several screenplays, including the superhero sequel '' X2'', which was released in 2003. ''Deadtime Stories'' is an anthology Horror fiction, horror-fantasy television series written by Annette Cascone and based on the Deadtime Stories (novel), book series of the same title (created by Annette Cascone, Annette and Gina Cascone) that aired from November 2, 2012 to November 14, 2013. Premise The series stars Jennifer Stone as "The Babysitter" who reads the Deadtime Stories (novel), Deadtime Stories to the children while babysitting.
