Deadfall (novel)
''Deadfall'' is an original novel by Gary Russell featuring the fictional archaeologist Bernice Summerfield. The New Adventures were a spin-off from the long-running British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. ''Deadfall'' was the first of the post-''Doctor Who'' New Adventures not to be centred on Bernice Summerfield. Instead, the main characters are Jason Kane (Benny's ex-husband) and Chris Cwej, both previously introduced in the ''Doctor Who'' New Adventures, and Emile Mars-Smith, previously introduced in an earlier post-''Doctor Who'' New Adventure, '' Beyond the Sun''. The Knights of Jeneve, an organisation introduced in the post-''Doctor Who'' New Adventure ''Dragons' Wrath'' but related to the ''Doctor Who'' organisation UNIT, also feature. Gary Russell (born 18 September 1963) is a British freelance writer, producer and former child actor. As a writer, he is best known for his work in connection with the television series ''Doctor Who'' and its spin-offs in other media. As an actor, he is best known for playing Dick Kirrin in the British 1978 television series ''The Famous Five (1970s TV series), The Famous Five''. Biography Russell was born in Maidenhead, Berkshire. His on-screen acting career included leading roles in the BBC's adaptation of E. Audio Visuals
The Audio Visuals were an unlicensed series of ''Doctor Who'' audio dramas made by British fans in the 1980s. Featuring Nicholas Briggs as the Doctor, twenty-eight audio plays were recorded and distributed on audio cassette between 1985 and 1991 (a pilot, in which the Doctor was voiced by Stephen Payne, was recorded at Chris Corney's house in Hamble near Southampton in 1984). The first three seasons (released 1985-1988) were produced by Bill Baggs, and the fourth and final season (1989–1991) by Gary Russell. Bernice Surprise Summerfield (later Professor Bernice Summerfield or just Benny) is a fictional character created by author Paul Cornell as a new companion of the Seventh Doctor in Virgin Publishing's range of original full-length '' Doctor Who'' novels, the '' New Adventures''. The ''Virgin New Adventures'' (NA series, or NAs) are a series of novels from Virgin Publishing based on the British science-fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. Christopher Rodonanté Cwej, usually just known as Chris Cwej, is a fictional character from the Virgin New Adventures range of spin-offs based on the BBC science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. His surname is properly pronounced "Shvay", but he pronounces it "Kwedge" rather than keep correcting people. His first appearance was in the 1995 novel ''Original Sin'' by Andy Lane, with his adjudicate partner Roz Forrester. Adjudicators are the police force of 30th century Earth, which was at that time divided into the Overcity and the Undercity.
