Dead To The World
''Dead to the World'' is the first live video album by American rock band Marilyn Manson, released on February 10, 1998, on VHS, documenting the infamous tour of the same name. It contains primarily live performances but delves into backstage and archival footage of the band. Notable features are: extensive protests by right-wing Christian groups; spoken relations of meaning and intent by Manson himself; and the brutal, immense theatrics presented by the band in the live setting. Based on ''Antichrist Superstar'', this video features six songs from the album as well as songs from earlier releases ''Portrait of an American Family'' and ''Smells Like Children''. "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" is a song by British new wave music duo Eurythmics. It is the title track of their album of the same name (1983) and was released as the fourth and final single from the album in early 1983. The song became their breakthrough hit, establishing the duo worldwide. Its music video helped to propel the song to number two on the UK Singles Chart and number one on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100; it was their first single released in the US. Timothy Linton, more commonly known as Zim Zum, is an American rock musician-songwriter and former guitarist for Life, Sex & Death and rock band Marilyn Manson (1996–1998). His current projects are Pleistoscene, a solo project, and The Pop Culture Suicides. Biography Linton joined Marilyn Manson in 1996, first appearing with the band at Nothing Records' "A Night of Nothing" showcase that was held in 1996 at Irving Plaza in New York City. He toured with the band for the 1996–1997 " Dead to the World" tour. His first video with the band was " The Beautiful People". Linton became the first member of Marilyn Manson to not use a stage name that combined a sex symbol's first and a serial killer's last names. Linton contributed to all but four of the tracks on the band's 1998 release ''Mechanical Animals''. Kenneth Robert Wilson, better known by his stage name Ginger Fish, is an American drummer primarily known for playing drums for Marilyn Manson from 1995–2011. Like Marilyn Manson, which combines the names of an iconic beauty with a serial killer, his name combines those of Ginger Rogers and Albert Fish. He is now the drummer for Rob Zombie after previously joining him on a series of warm up dates in February 2011. Early life Ginger Fish was born Kenneth Robert Wilson. He is a graduate of Chaparral High School in Paradise, Nevada. Stephen Bier, formerly known by his stage name Madonna Wayne Gacy and by the nickname Pogo, is an American musician who was the keyboard player for Marilyn Manson from 1989 to 2007. His stage name came from the names of the singer Madonna and the serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Career Bier attended college for six years and sought a job at NASA but decided he wanted to be in a band with Brian Warner. He joined Marilyn Manson in late 1989 as a live prop actor after Zsa Zsa Speck left the band. Bier is responsible for much of the Qabalistic and numerological meanings behind Manson's albums. He did not contribute to Manson's album ''Eat Me, Drink Me'', having been replaced by Chris Vrenna. Jeordie Osbourne White (born June 20, 1971), better known Twiggy Ramirez or simply Twiggy, is an American musician, mostly known as the former bassist and guitarist of the rock band Marilyn Manson. Previously, he was the bassist for A Perfect Circle and a touring member of Nine Inch Nails, and is currently the vocalist for Goon Moon. He left Marilyn Manson in 2002, later rejoined the band in 2008, and was dismissed in 2017. "Rock N Roll Nigger" is a rock song written by Patti Smith and Lenny Kaye, and released on the Patti Smith Group's 1978 album ''Easter''. While the song has always been controversial for its repeated use of the racial epithet "nigger", a remix was included on the soundtrack of the 1994 film ''Natural Born Killers'' and it has since been covered by several other artists, including Marilyn Manson (1995).
