Dead Mans Shoes (Lucky Bullets Album)
''Dead Mans Shoes'' is the debut album by Norwegian rockabilly band The Lucky Bullets. The album was recorded during Winter/Spring 2012 in Norway, and is produced by Peter Lundell. It consists mainly of western, blues, some rockabilly, some sad tunes, some cabaret, some gunfighter songs. It is currently scheduled for a June 1, 2012 nationwide release, with limited release the day before. Several of the tracks, including "Name Tattoo" and "Ghost Riders in the Sky", has been part of the band's live catalogue for years. The Lucky Bullets
The Lucky Bullets is a Norwegian people, Norwegian rockabilly band, formed in 2006. They first came to fame when they performed on the main stage at by:Larm 2008. Three years later they competed in the Norwegian finals of the Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011, Eurovision Song Contest, where they reached the finals and finished 3rd. Their first album, ''Dead Mans Shoes (Lucky Bullets album), Dead Mans Shoes'', will be released in June 2012. History The group was formed in Oslo in 2006, when three acquaintances, Kleppe, Nybru and Lillehamre, formed a rockabilly band after realizing they shared a passion for 50s music. After a round of drinks and discussion, they came up with the name the Lucky Bullets. Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music. It dates back to the early 1950s in the United States, especially the Southern United States, South. Ghost Riders In The Sky
"(Ghost) Riders in the Sky: A Cowboy Legend" is a cowboy-styled country/western song written in 1948 by American songwriter, film and television actor Stan Jones. A number of versions were crossover hits on the pop charts in 1949, the most successful being by Vaughn Monroe. The ASCAP database lists the song as "Riders in the Sky" (title code 480028324), but the title has been written as "Ghost Riders", "Ghost Riders in the Sky", and "A Cowboy Legend". Members of the Western Writers of America chose it as the greatest Western song of all time. Overview The song tells a folk tale of a cowboy who has a vision of red-eyed, steel-hooved cattle thundering across the sky, being chased by the spirits of damned cowboys. Stan Jones (songwriter)
Stanley Davis Jones (June 5, 1914 – December 13, 1963) was an American songwriter and actor, primarily writing Western music. He is best remembered for writing "Ghost Riders in the Sky". Early life Jones was born in Douglas, Arizona, and grew up on a ranch. His physician father was one of the first settlers in Cochise County, Arizona. When his father died, his mother moved the family to Los Angeles, California. He earned a master's degree in zoology from the University of California at Berkeley and competed in rodeos to make money. However, he dropped out in 1934 to join the United States Navy. After his discharge, he worked at many jobs, including as a miner, a fire fighter, and a park ranger. Musical career In his free time he wrote songs, and eventually more than 100 were recorded.
