Simon de Waal (born in Amsterdam in 1961) is a Dutch writer. He has specialized in television and film scripts, he won the ''Golden Calf'' in 2000 (grand prize for the Netherlands Film), for best screenplay for the film ''Leak''. ''Leak'' also won best film, best director and best actor, and several international awards, making it one of the most successful Dutch films. Several of the series he wrote, were either nominated or awarded with prizes for best television series in the Netherlands, for instance Unit 13, Bureau Kruislaan and Baantjer. Baantjer won the 'Golden Televizier Ring' for best series, after being nominated for it twice. His book ''Cop vs Killer'' was nominated for best thriller in 2005, in the Netherlands as well as in Belgium. Henri (''Hans'') van de Waal (3 March 1910 – 7 May 1972) was a Dutch writer and art historian known for developing Iconclass. Van de Waal was born in Rotterdam. Patrick Yvonne Hugo Dewael, (; born 13 October 1955) is a liberal Belgian politician. A member of the Flemish Liberals and Democrats (''Vlaamse Liberalen en Democraten'', VLD), he served as Minister-President of Flanders from 1999 to 2003. He is the nephew of the late Herman Vanderpoorten and the cousin of Marleen Vanderpoorten, who served as Minister of Education in the Flemish Government led by Dewael. Misha Defonseca (born Monique de Wael) is a Belgian-born impostor and the author of a fraudulent Holocaust memoir titled '' Misha: A Mémoire of the Holocaust Years'', first published in 1997 and at that time professed to be a true memoir. Michiel de Wael (bapt. 9 May 1596 – buried 7 April 1659 in Haarlem), was a Dutch brewer and citizen of Haarlem, best known today for his portraits painted by Frans Hals. His grandfather, also a brewer, was one of the first Calvinists in the city and was involved in the Siege of Haarlem. Johan de Wael (1594 – 1663), was a Dutch Golden Age mayor of Haarlem. Biography He was born in Haarlem and together with his brother Michiel he owned the Haarlem breweries ''De Son'' and t Roode Hart''. He served as judge in 1618, magistrate in 1620, and mayor in 1627 (after that he was mayor 19 times). Frans Hals painted De Wael in a wedding pendant along with his wife Aeltje Pater of Amsterdam, whom he married in 1620. They had no issue. Her brother was a brewer and mayor of Amsterdam.
