De La Salle Green Archers Basketball
The De La Salle Green Archers are the collegiate men's basketball team of De La Salle University, which play in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP), the premiere sports league in the country. History La Salle was a pre-war founding member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in 1924. In September 1980, La Salle announced it would withdraw from competing in the NCAA after a violent game with the Letran Knights. In 1986, La Salle was accepted as a member of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). La Salle won five NCAA basketball titles – 1939, 1947, 1956, 1971, and 1974. The Green Archers won the coveted National Seniors Open Championship, a league participated by top commercial and college teams, twice in 1939 and 1949. Ramon "Mon" Jose is a Filipinos, Filipino basketball coach who serving as one of the three assistant coaches under Chito Victolero of the Magnolia Hotshots in the Philippine Basketball Association, PBA. Carlos Jose "Caloy" Garcia is a Filipino professional basketball coach and former TV host. He is currently serving as team consultant for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in the Philippine Basketball Association. Evan Heinrich Nikolai Nelle (born June 8, 1998) is a Filipino basketball player. He played for the De La Salle Green Archers and San Beda Red Lions. He has won championships in the NCAA and in the UAAP. Early life When he was in grade school, Nelle studied at De La Salle-Zobel. He started playing basketball in Grade 3. The PBA Developmental League, or PBA D-League, is the Philippine Basketball Association's official minor league basketball organization. History The PBA D-League was conceptualized after the collapse of the proposed merger between the Philippine Basketball League (PBL) and Liga Pilipinas after the staging of the ''Tournament of the Philippines'' which was composed by PBL and Liga Pilipinas teams. The Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup (previously known as the Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup) is a pre-season collegiate basketball tournament in the Philippines. It is organized by Filoil EcoOil Sports. It gathers teams mainly from the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), but also include some invited teams such as the RP Youth under-18 team and teams from other leagues, in a basketball tournament just before the start of the collegiate season. UAAP Season 86 Basketball Tournaments
The UAAP Season 86 basketball tournaments are the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball tournaments for the 2023–24 school year. The University of the East are the hosts. The collegiate tournaments began on September 30, 2023, while the high school boys' tournament commenced on November 21, 2023. In the men's tournament, the UP Fighting Maroons finished the elimination round in first place. Defending champions Ateneo Blue Eagles finished tied for fourth with the Adamson Soaring Falcons, and eliminated the latter in a playoff. UP then defeated Ateneo in the semifinals. The FEU Tamaraws are the varsity teams of Far Eastern University in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The collegiate women's varsity teams are called the ''Lady Tamaraws'' while the high school varsity teams are called the ''Baby Tamaraws''.
