Laurent-Guillaume De Koninck
Laurent-Guillaume de Koninck (3 May 1809 – 16 July 1887) was a Belgian palaeontologist and chemist, born at Leuven. He studied medicine in the university of his native town, and in 1831 he became assistant in the chemical schools. He pursued the study of chemistry in Paris, Berlin and Gießen, and was subsequently engaged in teaching the science at Ghent and Liège. In 1856 he was appointed professor of chemistry in the Liège University, and he retained this post until the close of his life. About the year 1835 he began to devote his leisure to the investigation of the Carboniferous fossils around Liège, and ultimately he became distinguished for his researches on the palaeontology of the Palaeozoic rocks, and especially for his descriptions of the molluscs, brachiopods, crustaceans and crinoids of the Carboniferous limestone of Belgium. Lodewijk De Koninck
Lodewijk De Koninck (Hoogstraten, 30 October 1838 - Retie, 22 March 1924) was a Flemish writer. He studied at the school for teachers Lier and became a teacher in Antwerp. Later he became an inspector of the Catholic primary schools and a teacher at the school for teachers in Mechelen. As a writer he wrote poems which reflected his strict catholic belief. He is best known for the epic ''Het menschdom verlost'' (first edition 1872) (E: Humanity saved), written in Alexandrine verse. He also wrote the libretto of the oratorio ''Fransciscus'' of Edgar Tinel. At the frontwall of his house in the ''Sint-Martinusstraat'' (nr. 8) in Retie, there was, in earlier days, a stone with the engraving ''Hier leefde en stierf dichter Lodewijk De Koninck 1924'' (e: Here lived and died the writer Lodewijk De Koninck 1924). Charles De Koninck
Charles De Koninck (29 July 1906 – 13 February 1965) was a Belgian-Canadian Thomist philosopher and theologian. As director of the Department of Philosophy at the Université Laval in Quebec, he influenced Catholic philosophy in French Canada and also influenced Catholic philosophers in English Canada and the United States. The author of many books and articles in French and English, he contributed to a variety of philosophical fields including natural philosophy, philosophy of science, philosophy of mathematics, and political philosophy, but he also wrote on theology, especially Mariology. De Koninck was the founder of the so-called Laval School of philosophy, and mentored a number of philosophers, including Ralph McInerny, who published an English translation of De Koninck's collected works. David de Coninck or David de Koninck, also known as Rammelaer (ca. 1644, Antwerp – after 1701, probably Brussels) was a Flemish painter who specialised in still lifes and landscapes with animals and hunting scenes. Louis Herman De Koninck (31 March 1896 – 21 October 1984) was a Belgian architect and designer. One of the leading Belgian architects of the 20th century, De Koninck developed an original form of modernism and constructivism architecture. Servaes de Koninck, or Servaes de Konink, Servaas de Koninck or Servaas de Konink, or Servaes de Coninck (1653/54 – c.1701) was a Flemish baroque composer of motets, Dutch songs, chamber and incidental music, French airs and Italian cantatas. After training and starting his career in Flanders he moved to Amsterdam in the Dutch Republic, where he was active in circles connected to the Amsterdam Theatre. Jacob Koninck (c. 1615 – c. 1695) was a Dutch Golden Age landscape painter. Biography Koninck was born in Amsterdam. According to Houbraken he lent his books on perspective to Johannes Verkolje, who became better than he was at perspective drawing. He was a disciple of Adriaen van de Velde who became a popular painter in Copenhagen where he painted for the court of Christian V of Denmark. Salomon Koninck
Salomon (de) Koninck (1609 – buried 8 August 1656) was a Dutch painter of genre scenes and portraits, and an engraver. Koninck was born in Amsterdam, the son of a goldsmith, originally from Antwerp, and was a nephew of Philips de Koninck. Salomon became a pupil of Pieter Lastman, David Colijns, François Venants and Claes Corneliszoon Moeyaert. From 1630 he was a member of the Sint Lucasgilde. He moved in the circles of Rembrandt and the academy of Hendrick van Uylenburgh, making many copies of Rembrandt's compositions. His paintings have a warm colour palette and include many "philosophers" or scholars.
