Jorge de Freitas Antunes (born 23 April 1942) is a Brazilian composer of electroacoustic and acousmatic music. Jorge Antunes is an Avant-garde composer, who is known as the man who pioneered electronic music in Brazil. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Antunes entered the Escola de Música da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro in 1959 where he studied violin. He went on to earn Master of Music degrees in both violin and composition from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a Doctor of Music in electroacoustic music from the University of Paris (1977). Heleno de Freitas (12 February 1920 – 8 November 1959) was a Brazilian footballer who played as a forward. Early life De Freitas was born into a rich Brazilian family in São João de Nepomuceno, in the state of Minas Gerais, on 12 February 1920. Prior to becoming a footballer, he was looking to pursue a career as a lawyer, and even obtained a law degree. He began playing beach football in amateur tournaments. He was signed by Botafogo at the age of 17. Club career De Freitas spent most of his club career with Botafogo, scoring 209 goals in 235 matches for the club, most with his head. Sir Geoffrey Stanley de Freitas (7 April 1913 – 10 August 1982) was a British politician and diplomat. For 31 years a Labour Member of Parliament, he also served as British High Commissioner in Accra and Nairobi, and later as President of the Council of Europe. Family and early career Geoffrey de Freitas was the son of Sir Anthony and Lady (Edith) de Freitas. Sir Anthony was Chief Justice of St. Vincent in Geoffrey's youth, and later of British Guiana, having held a variety of legal and administrative posts in the British West Indies. Gastão de Freitas Ferraz was a Portuguese spy working for the Abwehr. He was one of two radio operators on board the ''Gil Eannes'', the codfish fleet support ship on the Atlantic. Ferraz almost succeeded in alerting the German military leadership to the imminent "Operation Torch" in 1942. The British HMS ''Duke of York'' stopped the ''Gil Eannes'' on 1 November 1942 and a commando arrested Freitas. During interrogation Freitas was shown a photo of the Abwehr resident in Lisbon, Kuno Weltzien. Freitas became nervous at this moment. The British had picked up radio traffic indicating naval espionage, possibly compromising the secrecy on "Operation Torch". Frederico Guedes de Freitas (born Lisbon, Portugal; 15 November 1902 – 12 January 1980) was a Portuguese composer, conductor, musicologist, and pedagogue.
