De Brief Voor De Koning (film)
''The Letter for the King'' ( nl, De Brief voor de Koning, ) is a 2008 Dutch adventure film written by Maarten Lebens and Pieter Verhoeff and directed by Verhoeff. The film is based on the 1962 book of the same name by Dutch writer Tonke Dragt. In 1963 the book won the Dutch award Best Youth Book of the Year; in 2004 it was named the Best Youth Book of the past 50 years. Over a million copies of the book have been sold to date. The filming of ''The Letter for the King'' took place from November 2007 till early March 2008, on locations in Germany (Eisenach and Engelskirchen), Luxembourg (Vianden), Belgium and the Netherlands. Plot In the land of Dagonaut a medieval squire named Tiuri and four other squires spend their last night before being knighted inside the chapel without chatting, sleeping, or eating. Pieter Verhoeff
Pieter Verhoeff (4 February 1938 – 17 April 2019) was a Dutch film director. He studied at the Netherlands Film and Television Academy and graduated in 1966. He is known for his films '' The Mark of the Beast'', '' The Dream'' and '' The Moving True Story of a Woman Ahead of Her Time''. All three stories take place in his native Friesland. He won two Golden Calf's in his career. Daniël Adrianus Augustinus "Daan" Schuurmans (born 24 January 1972) is a Dutch actor. He is married to Dutch actress Bracha van Doesburgh and they have a daughter named Sophia and twins sons named Kees and Boris. The Netherlands Film Fund ( nl, Nederlands Filmfonds) is a subsidy fund for Dutch film productions and was founded in 1993. The Golden Film ( nl, Gouden Film) is a film award recognizing domestic box office achievements in the Netherlands. The Golden Film is awarded to films from the Netherlands once they have sold . Monic Hendrickx (born 3 December 1966 in Sint Anthonis) is a Dutch actress.
