DeLand-Weldon High School
DeLand-Weldon High School is a coed public secondary institution located in Piatt County, Illinois. It is a part of DeLand-Weldon Community Unit School District #57. The school draws from an area of DeLand and Weldon and is the fourth smallest public high schools in the state of Illinois with a total enrollment of 54 students. History On December 7, 1957 the citizens of Unit #57 voted to build and equip a new high school on the county line midway between the two communities. The new building was erected at a cost of approximately $550,000 and provides for a four-year school, with provisions in the future to add four rooms to accommodate the seventh and eighth grades of both communities. Therefore, during the ten-year interim, the schools of DeLand-Weldon Unit #57 moved toward the original long range goal set in 1948. Illinois Route 10 (IL 10) is an arterial east–west state highway that runs from rural Mason County east to Champaign, a distance of . Route description Illinois 10 starts at US 136 about 12 miles east of Havana. The highway heads south to Easton, and then changes direction to reach Mason City and Lincoln. An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams, playing competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels. Conferences often, but not always, include teams from a common geographic region. Australian rules football The AFL Women's competition used a non-geographic conference system in 2019 and 2020. The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) is an association that regulates competition of interscholastic sports and some interscholastic activities at the high school level for the state of Illinois. It is a charter member of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). De Land, Illinois
De Land is a village in Piatt County, Illinois, United States. The population was 446 at the 2010 census. The name of the village is spelled De Land by the census bureau. A few of the main shops are Casey's General Store, Barnyard Treasures and Auction house, DeLand Farmer's Grain Cooperative, and two antique shops. History DeLand was founded in 1873 by Thomas E. Bondurant. who had it laid out as an answer to the needs of the local farmers for a place from which to ship their grain. Before officially being named DeLand, the town was known as "Tom's Town" in honor of Thomas Bondurant. The origination of the name DeLand has disputed sources, most tracing back to either James DeLand, who helped bring the railroad to the area in 1872, or French DeLand, a surveyor who is said to have laid out the town.
