The Daytime Emmy Awards, or Daytime Emmys, are part of the extensive range of Emmy Awards for artistic and technical merit for the American television industry. Bestowed by the New York–based National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), the Daytime Emmys are presented in recognition of excellence in American daytime television programming. The first ceremony was held in 1974, expanding what was originally a prime time-themed Emmy Award. Ceremonies generally are held in May or June. John William Corrington
John William Corrington (October 28, 1932 – November 24, 1988) was an American film and television writer, novelist, poet, and lawyer. Corrington attended St. John's High School (now known as Loyola College Prep), but was expelled after smoking cigarettes on the front steps of the parish church next door. Ultimately, he graduated from C. E. Byrd High School, in Shreveport, Louisiana. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Centenary College in 1956 and his master of arts from Rice University in 1960, the year he took on his first teaching position in the English department at Louisiana State University. Muriel Green of Exposure Unlimited developed the idea for a television game show based upon the board game concept.
