Days For Days
''Days for Days'' is an album by the Loud Family, released in 1998. The band's leader, Scott Miller, and the bass guitar player, Kenny Kessel, are the only members of the band remaining from the previous album. Gil Ray, who had been a member of Miller's 1980s band Game Theory, joined Miller for the album. Odd-numbered tracks on this album are soundscapes without names, while even-numbered tracks are named songs. While the odd-numbered tracks had no listed titles on this release, subsequent live recordings of the songs (as on ''From Ritual to Romance'') titled these tracks by number - so track 1 was "One", track 3 "Three", etc. Critical reception ''Trouser Press'' wrote that "the band does rock more convincingly than before, with stomping guitars in 'Deee-Pression' and the dizzying opening melody of 'Crypto-Sicko' (a bit Big Star, a bit Talking Heads)." Jonathan Segel
Jonathan Segel (born September 3, 1963) is an American composer and multi-instrumentalist. He has played with Camper Van Beethoven, Sparklehorse, Eugene Chadbourne, and Dieselhed. Early life and education Segel was born in Marseille, France, and grew up in Davis, California and Tucson, Arizona. His parents, both professors at University of California, Davis, were biochemist Irwin H. Segel and microbiologist Wiltraud Pfeiffer. Segel went to college at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where he studied under Peter Elsea and experimental music pioneer Gordon Mumma. He later obtained a master's degree in music composition at Mills College, studying with Fred Frith, Pauline Oliveros, Alvin Curran and Joëlle Léandre. Alison Faith Levy is a San Francisco-based musician and songwriter, known as a pop music, pop and jazz performer on keyboards and vocals, most notably as a member of power pop group The Loud Family, as well as for her later work as a children's musician in The Sippy Cups and as a solo artist. ''Trouser Press'' was a rock and roll magazine started in New York in 1974 as a mimeographed fanzine by editor/publisher Ira Robbins, fellow fan of the Who Dave Schulps and Karen Rose under the name "Trans-Oceanic Trouser Press" (a reference to a song by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band and an acronymic play on the British TV show ''Top of the Pops)''. ''From Ritual to Romance'' is The Loud Family's sixth full-length album. It is a live album released during a six-year hiatus from studio recording, which followed the expiration of the group's recording contract with Alias Records in 2000. Background Scott Miller, the band's founder and frontman, signed with independent recording label 125 Records after the expiration of the Loud Family's contract with Alias Records. The album was the fifth release by the then newly formed label, founded in 2001 by Joe Mallon and Sue Trowbridge, who had a long acquaintance with Miller and his bands. Game Theory was an American power pop band, founded in 1982 by singer/songwriter Scott Miller, combining melodic jangle pop with dense experimental production and hyperliterate lyrics. George Gilbert "Gil" Ray (September 17, 1956 – January 24, 2017) was an American rock drummer, guitarist, and vocalist, best known for his recordings in the 1980s and 1990s as a member of the bands Game Theory and The Loud Family. In late 2012, he joined Rain Parade as drummer for a series of reunion performances. Biography Early musical career Gil Ray grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and formed his first band as a child in 1966. Attractive Nuisance (album)
The attractive nuisance doctrine applies to the law of torts in some jurisdictions. It states that a landowner may be held liable for injuries to children trespassing on the land if the injury is caused by an object on the land that is likely to attract children. The doctrine is designed to protect children who are unable to appreciate the risk posed by the object, by imposing a liability on the landowner. The doctrine has been applied to hold landowners liable for injuries caused by abandoned cars, piles of lumber or sand, trampolines, and swimming pools. However, it can be applied to virtually anything on the property. There is no set cutoff point that defines youth. The courts will evaluate each "child" on a case-by-case basis to see if the "child" qualifies as a youth. Interbabe Concern
''Interbabe Concern'' is The Loud Family's third full-length album, and their first to be produced by Scott Miller instead of Mitch Easter. With the exception of keyboard player Paul Wieneke and Miller, this was a new line-up of the band. Personnel After touring in support of the 1994 album ''The Tape of Only Linda'', three members – bass player Rob Poor, guitarist Zachary Smith, and drummer Jozef Becker – left the group for family or career reasons. For ''Interbabe Concern'', Scott Miller took over the lead guitar duties that he had ceded to Smith on prior Loud Family albums.
