Dayana Octavien
Dayana Octavien (born June 10, 1982) is a Haitian-American track and field athlete who competes internationally for Haiti. Octavien competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics for Haiti in the discus event. She placed sixth the year prior in the Pan American Games. While attending college at the University of South Florida, Octavien was a two-time All-American, won seven Conference USA titles in three events (discus, weight throw and hammer), and was named the C-USA Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Year in three straight seasons. After her time with the Bulls, she was inducted into the University of South Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. Steven Octavien (born November 25, 1984) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League for the Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns. He played college football at the University of Nebraska. Early years Octavien is of Haitian descent, and attended Lely High School. He became a starter at linebacker as a sophomore. In his last 2 years he was used as a two-way player. In his junior season, he won the state title in the discus throw and finished second as a senior. In 2003, his personal-best throw of 193-7 was the tenth-best prep mark in the nation. College career Octavien enrolled at Harper College. As freshman, he posted 124 tackles (15 for loss), 8 sacks, 3 interceptions, 2 blocked field goals and one blocked punt, while contributing to a 10-1 record. The South Florida Bulls (also known as the USF Bulls) are the athletic teams that represent the University of South Florida. USF competes in NCAA Division I and is a member of the American Athletic Conference for all sports besides sailing, which competes in the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association within the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association.
