Dayal Patterson
Dayal Patterson is a British author. Patterson has written several non-fiction books about heavy metal music and has contributed to a number of metal magazines, such as ''Decibel'', ''Terrorizer'' and ''Metal Hammer''. His trilogy of books on black metal, ''Black Metal: Evolution of the Cult'', ''Black Metal: The Cult Never Dies Vol. One.'' and ''Black Metal: Into the Abyss'', have been labelled 'essential reading' for black metal enthusiasts. Following this work, he has given talks on the history of metal at events and festivals such as Midgardsblot. Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. ''Decibel'' is a monthly heavy metal magazine published by the Philadelphia-based Red Flag Media since October 2004. Its sections include Upfront, Features, Reviews, Guest Columns and the Decibel Hall of Fame. The magazine's tag-line is currently "Extremely Extreme" (previously "The New Noise"); the editor-in-chief is Albert Mudrian. Black Metal
Black metal is an extreme metal, extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Common traits include Tempo#Beats per minute, fast tempos, a Screaming (music)#Black metal, shrieking vocal style, heavily distorted Electric guitar, guitars played with tremolo picking, raw (Lo-fi music, lo-fi) recording, unconventional song structures, and an emphasis on atmosphere. Midgardsblot
Midgardsblot is an annual extreme metal and folk music festival organized in Borre, Norway. The festival has been organized since 2015 and takes place at the Midgard Viking Centre, museum in a former Viking settlement and the largest burial mound site in Northern Europe. The programme of Midgardsblot includes tours of the area, battle reenactments, documentary screenings, lectures and panel discussions, as well as a Viking village, a Viking market and a games arena for archery, axe-throwing, and other activities.
