Day Of The Daleks
''Day of the Daleks'' is the first serial of the ninth season of the British science fiction television series ''Doctor Who'', which was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 1 to 22 January 1972. It was the first of four Third Doctor serials to feature the Daleks, which returned to the series for the first time since ''The Evil of the Daleks'' (1967). In the serial, the Doctor and UNIT investigate the attempted assassination of British diplomat Sir Reginald Styles, whose attacker apparently disappeared into thin air. Plot A British diplomat, Sir Reginald Styles, is organising a peace conference to avert World War III. In his study at Auderly House he is held at gunpoint by a soldier wielding a futuristic looking pistol, who then mysteriously vanishes. The shaken Styles believes that he has been visited by a ghost. Valentine Palmer
Valentine Palmer (24 July 1935 – 10 January 2022) was a British voice coach, a singer and a television, film and theatre actor who appeared in the '' Doctor Who'' serial ''Day of the Daleks, The Six Wives of Henry VIII, Minder, The Professionals, The Sweeney, Emmerdale, The Saint, Dixon of Dock Green, Crossroads .'' Valentine was also one of the presenters of ATV Today in 1966. As the great nephew of Charles Lightoller, the most senior member of the crew to survive the Titanic disaster, Valentine was a Titanic expert, and authored books on the subject. He also gave media interviews on the sinking, including on Channel 5's ''Live with Gabby'' on the subject. He died on 10 January 2022, at the age of 86. Valentine’s final project was as a producer and writer on the documentary The Session Man'. Oliver Gilbert III is an American politician and current Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 1. He is also the former mayor of Miami Gardens. Career Gilbert received a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Florida A&M University and a J.D. from University of Miami School of Law. He entered politics early out of law school in 2000, when then-state representative Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall hired him as a legislative aide. He then worked as deputy of policy for former US attorney general Janet Reno's gubernatorial campaign. A couple years later, after working first as a prosecutor and then in private practice, he vied for the mayoralty of the newly incorporated City of Miami Gardens in 2003 where he lost. He was appointed to the Miami Gardens council in 2008 and 4 years later was elected mayor, the second African-American to hold the position. Frank Gladstone Menzies CBE (3 January 1892 – 31 August 1978) was an Australian lawyer and public servant. He served as crown solicitor of Victoria from 1926 to 1954. He was an older brother of prime minister Robert Menzies. Early life Menzies was born on 3 January 1892 in Ballarat, Victoria. He was the second of five children born to Kate (née Sampson) and James Menzies. He was named after British prime minister William Gladstone. His father and uncle Hugh Menzies served in state parliament while another uncle Sydney Sampson was a federal MP.
