picture info	Dawu, Taitung Dawu Township () is a rural township in Taitung County, Taiwan. The majority inhabitants of the township are the indigenous Paiwan people. Administrative divisions The township comprises five villages: Dajhu, Daniao, Dawu, Nanhsing and Shangwu. The indigenous names for these communities are and . Climate Dawu has a tropical monsoon climate. The township is known for its extreme heat due to Foehn wind effects during the daytime especially during the summer months. On 25 July 2020, Dawu recorded a temperature of , which is the highest temperature to have ever been recorded in Taiwan. After World War II, the townships were established from the following conversions on the Japanese administrative divisions: Although local laws do not enforce strict standards for classifying them, generally urban townships have a larger population and more business and industry than rural townships, but not to the extent of county-administered cities. Under townships, there is still the village as the fourth or basic level of administration. History The station was opened for passengers on 5 October 1992. Over the years due to the low utilization of the station by passengers, the station was downgraded into a signal station in 2017. 	Duoliang Station The Duoliang Station () is a former railway station in Duoliang Village, Taimali Township, Taitung County, Taiwan. It has become a popular tourist attraction, with the platform turned into an observation deck overlooking the rail track and the Pacific coastline. History The station was inaugurated in October 1992. On 1 October 2006 the station was closed due to low passenger traffic. After that, the roads connecting the platform were removed. On 31 March 2019, the station was closed for upgrading works. The local government made a small renovation work at the former station building where they expanded the observation deck above the tracks. On 1 February 2021, the station began charging visitors entrance fee to the station which is used as cleaning fee. Transportation The station is located along and parallel with Provincial Highway 9.
