Dawson Creek Kodiaks
The Dawson Creek Kodiaks were a Junior ice hockey team from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, Canada. They are former members of the Peace-Cariboo Junior Hockey League. History The Dawson Creek Canucks were members of the Peace Junior B Hockey League. In 1975, the league expanded and became the Peace-Cariboo Junior B Hockey League. In 1980, the Canucks became the Kodiaks and the league was promoted to Junior A. The Kodiaks stayed with the league until 1990 when they folded for the second time in three seasons. Their best season was 1982-83 when they finished second in the league with 24 wins in 40 games. They lost the PCJHL Cup league final 4-games-to-1 to the Williams Lake Mustangs. The Kodiaks changed their name to the Dawson Creek Capitals in the 1985-1986 season. The Capitals eventually folded and were replaced in 1994 by the Dawson Creek Jr. Canucks in the North West Junior Hockey League. Dawson Creek, British Columbia
Dawson Creek is a city in northeastern British Columbia, Canada. The municipality of had a population of 12,978 in 2016. Dawson Creek derives its name from the creek of the same name that runs through the community. The creek was named after George Mercer Dawson by a member of his land survey team when they passed through the area in August 1879. Once a small farming community, Dawson Creek became a regional centre after the western terminus of the Northern Alberta Railways was extended there in 1932. The community grew rapidly in 1942 as the US Army used the rail terminus as a transshipment point during construction of the Alaska Highway. In the 1950s, the city was connected to the interior of British Columbia via a highway and a railway through the Rocky Mountains. The Williams Lake Mustangs was a Junior ice hockey team from Williams Lake, British Columbia, Canada. They are former members of the Rocky Mountain Junior Hockey League. History The Williams Lake Mustangs were founded in 1978 as members of the Peace-Cariboo Junior B League. In 1980, with the Peace-Cariboo League, the Mustangs were promoted to Junior A. North West Junior Hockey League
The North West Junior Hockey League is a Junior "B" Ice Hockey league operating in the Peace River region of Alberta and British Columbia, Canada, sanctioned by Hockey Canada. The winner of Northwest "B" playoffs earns the chance to compete for the Western Canadian Junior "B" Crown, the Keystone Cup. Dawson Creek Rage
The Dawson Creek Rage (aka DC Rage) were a Tier II Junior A ice hockey team, based out of Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Formed in 2010, they played in the North American Hockey League's West Division for two seasons. Their 2010–11 season included a six-game win streak, though they ended the season fifth in a six team division with 24 wins in 58 games. The 2011–12 season included an 11-game homestand in which they only won 2 games, and a last place finish (in their division) with only 12 wins overall. With losing records in both seasons, the team did not make the playoffs in either season. Despite attracting better than average attendance for a NAHL team, high travelling and operating costs resulted in the team ceasing operations in April 2012. North American Hockey League
The North American Hockey League (NAHL) is one of the top junior hockey leagues in the United States and is in its 48th season of operation in 2022–23. It is the only Tier II junior league sanctioned by USA Hockey, and acts as an alternative to the Tier I United States Hockey League (USHL). The NAHL is one of the oldest junior hockey leagues in the United States and is headquartered in Addison, Texas. The teams span the United States from Maine in the East to Alaska in the Northwest and to Texas in the South. The teams play a 60-game regular season, starting in mid-September and ending in early April. The Prince George Spruce Kings are a junior "A" ice hockey team based in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada. They are members of the Mainland Division of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). They play their home games at Kopar Memorial Arena, which has a capacity of 2,112. The Grande Prairie Storm is a junior A ice hockey team in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) based in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada, with home games at Revolution Place.
