Gavan Daws is an American writer, historian and filmmaker residing in Honolulu, Hawaii. He writes about Hawaii, the Pacific, and Asia. He is a retired professor of history at University of Hawaii at Manoa. Daws is originally from Australia and got his B.A. in English and History from the University of Melbourne. He has a Ph.D. in Pacific History from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. His best-known works are ''Shoal of Time: A History of the Hawaiian Islands'', in print since 1968; ''Holy Man: Father Damien of Molokai'', the biography of a nineteenth-century missionary priest to Hawaii who served leprosy sufferers, and who has recently been canonized; and ''Prisoners of the Japanese: POWs of World War II in the Pacific.'' Lenny Daws (born 29 December 1978) is a British professional boxer. He held the British super lightweight title twice between 2006 and 2011, and the EBU European Union super lightweight title between 2012 and 2014. Boxing career Early professional career Daws made his professional debut on 16 April 2003, defeating Danny Gwilym at the Ice Arena in Nottingham. Over next few years he compiled a record of twelve consecutive victories with wins over the likes of Ernie Smith, Karl Taylor and Oscar Hall. On 12 May 2006, he defeated Colin Lynes at the York Hall in Bethnal Green to win the Southern Area light welterweight title. The fight also served as an eliminator for the full British title. Nicholas John Daws (born 15 March 1970) is an English football manager, coach and former professional footballer who is head of recruitment at Scottish Premier League side Motherwell. As a player, he was a midfielder from 1986 until 2005 notably in the Football League for Bury, Rotherham United and Grimsby Town. Since retiring he has been a member of the coaching staff at Rotherham United, Barnsley, Queens Park Rangers, Scunthorpe United and AFC Wimbledon. Nicolas Daws (born December 22, 2000) is a German–Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected 84th overall by the Devils in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career In the two seasons leading up to the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Daws' first year of draft eligibility, he was the backup goaltender for the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Appearing in just 34 games over those two years, Daws led the OHL in goals against average and save percentage with a 2.06 and .939, respectively. Despite his impressive stat line and an OHL championship, he was not selected in the 2019 draft. Anthony Daws (born 10 September 1966 in Sheffield) is an English football coach and former professional footballer, he is academy manager of National League side Scunthorpe United.
