Origins The party was founded in May 2013 by Tomio Okamura, an independent senator attached to the Christian Democratic parliamentary group. Tomio Okamura's Dawn of Direct Democracy supported the implementation of direct democracy at all levels "as a solution to the corruption, nepotism, clientelism and kleptocracy," the use of referendums, the direct election of deputies, senators, mayors and regional governors, a presidential system and, consequently, a stronger separation of powers. picture info	Tomio Okamura is a Czech politician and entrepreneur of Moravian Wallachian, Japanese and Korean ethnicity. He founded the Czech political parties Dawn of Direct Democracy and Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD). Since October 2013, he has been a member of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic (MP), initially for Dawn of Direct Democracy and then from May 2015 for SPD (styled "SPD – Tomio Okamura"), of which he is also leader. He previously served as an independent Senator for Zlín district from October 2012 until his election to the Chamber of Deputies a year later. He has been placed as far-right. Early life and background Okamura was born in Tokyo. His mother, Helena Okamura, born Holíková, a native of Moravian Wallachia, had moved there in 1966 following her marriage to Okamura's half-Japanese, half-Korean father, Matsu Okamura. 	Public Affairs (political Party) Public Affairs ( cs, Věci veřejné, VV, nicknamed ''véčkaři'') was a conservative-liberal political party in the Czech Republic. Its main platform was transparency and opposition to political corruption. It had 24 seats in the 2010–2013 Chamber of Deputies. The party was led by anti-establishment investigative journalist and writer Radek John, and later by Jiří Kohout. Besides opposing corruption, the party was fiscally conservative. It had a number of right-wing populist policies. The party was supportive of direct democracy – the members of the party could change the course of the party by Internet referendums – and was pro-European Union.
