Dawn () is a book authored by Selahattin Demirtaş, a Kurdish politician of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and written while he was in the F-Type prison in Edirne. The cover was designed by his sister Bahar Demirtaş and the book released in September 2017. The Turkish edition has reportedly sold more than 200,000 copies. The book contains twelve short stories on 144 pages and is described to be directed to the working class and dedicated to the female victims of violence. Demirtas also included two drawings by himself in the volume. The stories were developed during months and written by night, before dawn. Selahattin Demirtaş
Selahattin Demirtaş (born 10 April 1973) is a politician, author, and former member of the parliament of Turkey. He was the co-leader of the left-wing pro-Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), serving alongside Figen Yüksekdağ from 2014 to 2018. Demirtaş was the presidential candidate of the HDP in the 2014 presidential election, coming in third place. He led the HDP to gather 13.1% at the June 2015 parliament elections and 10.7% in the snap elections in November 2015, coming 4th in each election. He has been imprisoned since 4 November 2016 and despite his imprisonment the HDP fielded Demirtaş as its candidate for the 2018 presidential election, running his campaign from prison. Peoples' Democratic Party (Turkey)

F-type Prisons
F-Type-Prisons, officially called F-type High Security Closed Institutions for the Execution of Sentences (''F tipi cezaevi / F Tipi Yüksek Güvenlikli Kapalı Ceza İnfaz Kurumu''), are high-security prisons designated by Turkish Law 5275 on the Execution of Sentences. Those sentenced to F-type prisons include political prisoners, members of armed organizations, people convicted of drug offences or organized crimes, and those sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment. Aggravated life imprisonment (''ağırlaştırılmış müebbet hapis cezası'') replaced the death penalty when it was abolished in 2002 and according to Article 47 of the Turkish Penal Code (TPC) it is a life sentence. The Hogarth Press is a book publishing imprint of Penguin Random House that was founded as an independent company in 1917 by British authors Leonard Woolf and Virginia Woolf. Deniz Yücel (; born 10 September 1973) is a German-Turkish journalist and publisher. He has been a contributor to several German publications, most notably ''Die Tageszeitung'' and ''Die Welt''. Cem Özdemir (, ; born 21 December 1965) is a German politician who currently serves as Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture since 2021. He is a member of the Alliance 90/The Greens party.
