Davis Renov Stahler Yeshiva High School for Boys (commonly referred to as DRS) is an Orthodox Judaism, Orthodox Jewish high school in Woodmere, New York. History DRS was established in 1997 as the official high school for HALB. Its original building was an old synagogue in Lawrence, Nassau County, New York, Lawrence, New York (state), New York. In 2002, the school moved to a new building in Woodmere, New York. The first ever Freshman class of the school (Class of 2001) had an enrollment of 27 students. By 2005, the freshman class had 69 students, in 2015 that number went up to 88, and in 2022 that number went up to 100. In 2016, DRS had its accreditation renewed by the Middle States Association. Academics DRS is a Jewish, Modern Orthodox Judaism, Orthodox day-school. DRS employs a dual-curriculum in which the students spend half the day studying Jewish subjects and the other half devoted to secular education. Woodmere is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the Town of Hempstead in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 17,554 at the 2016 census. Woodmere is one of the Long Island communities known as the Five Towns, which is usually said to comprise the villages of Lawrence and Cedarhurst, the hamlets of Woodmere and Inwood, and "The Hewletts", which consist of the villages of Hewlett Bay Park, Hewlett Harbor, Hewlett Neck, and Woodsburgh, along with the unincorporated hamlet of Hewlett. History In 1910, Woodmere considered incorporating as a village. These plans, however, were unsuccessful, and Woodmere remains an unincorporated hamlet governed by the Town of Hempstead to this day.
