David Stothard
David Stothard (born 27 June 1937) is a former Canadian soccer player. He was a two-time national champion with Westminster Royals FC (1955 and 1960). He was Canada's starting fullback during FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in 1957 and Canada's tour of the Soviet Union and Britain in 1960. In 2006 he became an honoured member of the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame. In the Pacific Coast League, Stothard won six championships with three clubs: three times with Westminster (1956, 1957, 1960–61), once with Vancouver Hale-Co FC (1958), and twice with Victoria O'Keefe (1966–67, 1967–68). He also helped Victoria reach the playoff final in 1965–66. He was a regular all-star selection, representing British Columbia in 10 of 11 seasons from 1956 through 1966. While he primarily played right back, he could in fact play almost any position on the field. Pacific Coast Soccer League (1908-73)
The Pacific Coast Soccer League is an amateur soccer league, currently featuring teams from British Columbia. In the past clubs from Washington and Oregon have competed. PCSL is considered to be British Columbia's premier summer league. The league winners are not eligible for any higher cup competitions; however, most players participate in a winter league, such as the VMSL, VISL or FVSL, where teams do participate in BC Provincial Cup qualification. The league has a short, 2.5-month summer season. The league is considered to be a 4th tier competition next to USL League 2. The PCSL comprises elite football players, including ex-pros from Europe and North America, or NCAA or U Sports players and others looking to become professional footballers, or maintain fitness. The Challenge Trophy
The Challenge Trophy (french: Trophée Challenge) is a national amateur soccer cup in Canada contested by the champions of individual provincial soccer competitions. It is one of the oldest soccer competitions in Canada, being held since 1913. It is run by the Canadian Soccer Association. Canada Soccer Hall Of Fame
The Canada Soccer Hall of Fame honours people and institutions for their contributions to Canadian soccer. It was founded in 1997 by the Ontario Soccer Association and was originally located in Vaughan, Ontario. As of 2019, the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame has inducted 114 players, 13 managers/coaches, 10 officials, and 40 builders as honoured members. Additionally, the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame has recognized 13 teams of distinction and seven organizations of distinction.
