David Starr (politician)
David J. Starr (born June 10, 1943) is a former Republican member of the New Hampshire Senate, representing the 1st district, in the northernmost part of the state, from 2018 until 2020. He defeated Democratic incumbent Jeff Woodburn in the 2018 general election after Woodburn was indicted for domestic violence. This was Starr's first race for any elective office. Starr was defeated by State Representative Erin Hennessey in the 2020 Republican primary. Franconia, New Hampshire
Franconia is a town in Grafton County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 1,083 at the 2020 census. Set in the White Mountains, Franconia is home to the northern half of Franconia Notch State Park. Parts of the White Mountain National Forest are in the eastern and southern portions of the town. The Appalachian Trail crosses the town. History The town was first granted in 1764 by colonial Governor Benning Wentworth as "Franconia", a name widely applied to the region by 1760 due to the terrain's resemblance to the Franconian Switzerland in the region of Franconia in Germany. Jeff Woodburn
Jeffrey R. Woodburn (born June 1965) from Dalton, New Hampshire is a former Democratic member of the New Hampshire Senate for the 1st district, elected in 2012. He was the minority leader of the Senate Democratic caucus. Woodburn served on the Public and Municipal Affairs Committee and the Election Law and Internal Affairs Committee. Woodburn graduated in 1987 from Franklin Pierce College, and won a seat in the New Hampshire House of Representatives after graduation. He served one term (1989 to 1991). He previously ran for the State House in 1986, but lost to Harold Burns. He served as Chairman of the New Hampshire Democratic Party (1997 to 1999), and as the executive director for U.S. Representative Richard Swett.
