David Snedden
David Samuel Snedden (1868–1951) was an American educator. The first Commissioner of education in Massachusetts, he left the position to serve on the faculty of Teachers College, Columbia University (1916-1935). Snedden was a pioneer in the field of educational sociology The sociology of education is the study of how public institutions and individual experiences affect education and its outcomes. It is mostly concerned with the public schooling systems of modern industrial societies, including the expansion of ... and the social efficiency movement, which promoted vocational education. David becomes a favourite of Saul, the first king of Israel; he also forges a notably close friendship with Jonathan, a son of Saul.
