David Scott Mitchell (19 March 1836 – 24 July 1907) was a collector of Australian books, founder and benefactor of the Mitchell Library, at the State Library of New South Wales, Sydney.G. D. Frederick Victor Grey Wymark
Frederick Victor Grey Wymark (6 October 1872 – 19 October 1942) was an Australian Australiana collector, book collector and bookseller. Biography Wymark was born in Stawell, Victoria to a local Victorian mother and British father, he came to Sydney in 1884 and grew up in Wooloomooloo, when David Angus opened a book store in Market Street, Sydney, Wymark became his assistant and was then apprenticed by Angus in 1890, Angus subsequently with his business partner established the retailer Angus & Robertson bookstores. After David Angus died in 1900, Wymark took over the majority share of the company with George Robertson. Wymark died in Church Point, New South Wales in 1942. Ida Leeson
Ida Emily Leeson (11 February 1885 – 22 January 1964) was the Mitchell Librarian at the State Library of New South Wales from December 1932 – April 1946. She was the first woman to achieve a senior management position in an Australian library. Early years Ida Emily Leeson was born in Leichhardt, New South Wales on 11 February 1885 daughter of Thomas Leeson, a carpenter from Canada, and his Australian born wife Mary Ann, née Emberson. She was educated at Leichhardt Public School and Sydney Girls High School where she was a successful student, winning the first prize in the first class in 1900. Leeson graduated from the University of Sydney in 1906. The State Library of New South Wales, part of which is known as the Mitchell Library, is a large heritage-listed special collections, reference and research library open to the public and is one of the oldest libraries in Australia. Rookwood Cemetery (officially named Rookwood Necropolis) is a heritage-listed cemetery in Rookwood, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is the largest List of necropolises, necropolis in the Southern Hemisphere and is the world's largest remaining operating cemetery from the Victorian era. Sir Joseph Hector McNeil Carruthers (21 December 185710 December 1932) was an Australian politician who served as Premier of New South Wales from 1904 to 1907. Carruthers is perhaps best remembered for founding the Liberal and Reform Association, the forerunner to the modern Liberal Party of Australia (New South Wales Division). Arthur Wilberforce Jose (4 September 1863 – 22 January 1934) was an English- Australian historian and editor of the Australian Encyclopaedia. Jose was born at Bristol, South West England, eldest son of William Wilberforce Jose, and his wife Sarah Maria, ''née'' Woodward. W. W. Jose was chairman of Bristol School Board's technical education committee and a governor of University College, Bristol. Arthur Jose was educated at Clifton College, where he obtained a scholarship which took him to Balliol College, Oxford.
