David Ober
David Ober is an American politician serving as a member of the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. Prior to joining the IURC, he represented the 82nd district of the Indiana House of Representatives. Early life and education Ober is a sixth-generation Hoosier who grew up in rural Albion, Indiana. He graduated from Central Noble High School in 2005 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer graphics technology from Purdue University Northwest in 2009. Career Indiana Legislature Ober was appointed by House Speaker Brian Bosma to serve on the Agriculture and Rural Development, Government and Regulatory Reform, and Employment, Labor and Pensions Committees during the 2013 session of the Indiana General Assembly. Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission
The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) is the public utilities commission of the state of Indiana, led by five commissioners appointed by the governor. The commission regulates electric, natural gas, telecommunications, steam, water and sewer utilities. History The commission was established by the Indiana General Assembly as the Railroad Commission in the late 1800s to regulate the railroads in the state. On March 4, 1913, Governor Samuel M. Ralston signed the Shively-Spencer Utility Act giving it the additional authority to regulate electric, natural gas, water, private sewer, and telephone utilities along with common carriers (trucking) and renaming it as the Public Service Commission. Brian Bosma
Brian C. Bosma (born October 31, 1957) is an American politician and lawyer who served as speaker of the Indiana House of Representatives from 2004 to 2006 and 2010 to 2020. A member of the Republican Party, Bosma has served in the Indiana House since 1986. He replaced Gordon Harper. He was originally elected in the 50th district, but was redistricted to the 88th district in 1992. The 88th district encompasses northeast Marion County and portions of Hancock and Hamilton County. Upon Republicans regaining a majority in the Indiana House in 2004, he was elected to his first of six nonconsecutive terms to the speakership. He served his first term as speaker until 2006, when Democrats gained control of the House, and served five more terms as speaker after Republicans won control in the 2010 elections. Eric Joseph Holcomb (born May 2, 1968) is an American politician who is the 51st and current governor of Indiana, serving since 2017. A member of the Republican Party, he served as the 51st lieutenant governor of Indiana from 2016 to 2017 under Governor Mike Pence, who left the governorship in 2017 to become the vice president of the United States.
