David O'Connor (singer)
David O'Connor is an Irish singer and former racing jockey from Ferns, County Wexford. He participated in the fifth series of RTÉ One television talent show ''You're a Star'', finishing as the series winner on 18 March 2007. During the show he charted in Ireland with a recording of one of his live performances. O'Connor previously had a racing career and on one occasion represented Ireland in the Karaoke World Championships. Early life His parents are Willie and Martina from Páirc Mhuire. O'Connor engaged in public performance whilst working as a barman. He was a member of Ferns Dramatic Society, with which he took part in some musicals and variety shows. Racing O'Connor, whose passions include horses, was previously a jockey, and has worked with the renowned trainer Colm Murphy. Ferns, County Wexford
Ferns (, short for ) is a historic town in north County Wexford, Ireland. It is from Enniscorthy, where the Gorey to Enniscorthy R772 road joins the R745, both regional roads. The remains of Ferns Castle are in the centre of the town. History Ferns is believed to have been established in the 6th century, when a monastery was founded in 598 dedicated to St Mogue of Clonmore (St. Aidan), who was a Bishop of Ferns. The town became the capital of the Kingdom of Leinster, and also the Capital of Ireland when the kings of that southern part of the province established their seat of power there. It was a very large city, but shrank after a fire destroyed most of it. The city stretched all the way past the River Bann (tributary of the River Slaney), and it is speculated that had it not burned, it would be one of Ireland's biggest cities today. Gorey () is a market town in north County Wexford, Ireland. It is beside the main M11 Dublin to Wexford road. The town is also connected to the railway network along the same route. Leanne Moore
Leanne Moore (born 24 July 1984) is the winner of the 2008 series of ''You're a Star'' on Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). Born and raised in Limerick, Moore made it to the final along with fellow contestants Robyn Kavanagh and Deirdre Archibald. For the final, Moore sang "Piece of My Heart", "Run" and " Let's Stay Together". Moore was not favourite to win the competition, despite Louis Walsh stating that she had the most star potential during his appearance as a guest judge. Her debut single "On Wings" went to number one on the Irish Singles Chart on 27 June 2008. She recently returned from a trip to New York where she recorded songs for her debut album. Lucia Evans (born 6 February 1982) is an Irish-Zimbabwean singer and winner of the 2006 season of the talent show ''You're a Star''. Career Though originally from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe, Evans is now living in Galway, Ireland, working as a full-time vocal coach. Evans's first single, "Bruised Not Broken", written by Don Black, Wayne Hector and Phill Thornalley and produced by Paul Staveley O'Duffy, was released on Universal Records and entered the Irish Singles Chart at number five on 20 April 2006. Scuba Dice were an Irish pop punk and punk rock band who gained national attention after participating in the 2007 series of the singing contest You're A Star. History Formation (2003–2007) The band formed in 2003 and gained a following in Ireland for their live shows and original material. After entering the 2006 Hype Entertainment Battle of the Bands and winning, the band released a self-titled EP, then opened for The Frank and Walters at a gig at the Olympia Theatre, featuring Des Foley of Mr Lightweight as an additional guitarist. Oasis (band)
Oasis were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. Originally known as the Rain, the group initially consisted of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals, tambourine), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums). Liam's older brother Noel (lead guitar, vocals) later joined as a fifth member, finalising the group's core lineup. It was released in January 1984 as the first of two singles by Loggins from the 1984 film of the same name (the other one being " I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man)").
