David N. Miller
David N. Miller Jr. (born ) is a United States Space Force Lieutenant general (United States), lieutenant general who has served as the commander of Space Operations Command. He previously served as the director of operations, training, and force development of the United States Space Command. Miller is a native of Newburgh, New York. He was commissioned into the United States Air Force in 1993 after graduating from Lafayette College. He is a career missile and space operations officer who has commanded the 2nd Range Operations Squadron, 21st Operations Group, and 460th Space Wing. He also served as the senior military assistant to Secretary Barbara Barrett. Miller led the reestablishment of the U.S. Space Command. He transferred into the Space Force in 2021 as a major general. Newburgh is a city in the U.S. state of New York, within Orange County. With a population of 28,856 as of the 2020 census, it is a principal city of the Poughkeepsie–Newburgh–Middletown metropolitan area. Located north of New York City, and south of Albany on the Hudson River within the Hudson Valley Area, the city of Newburgh is located near Stewart International Airport, one of the primary airports for Downstate New York. The Newburgh area was first settled in the early 18th century by the Germans and British. During the American Revolution, Newburgh served as the headquarters of the Continental Army. Prior to its chartering in 1865, the city of Newburgh was part of the town of Newburgh; the town now borders the city to the north and west. East of the city is the Hudson River; the city of Beacon is across the river and it is connected to Newburgh via the Newburgh–Beacon Bridge.
